THE LOUIS ARMSTRONG HOUSE MUSEUM SUSTAINS AND PROMOTES THE CULTURAL, HISTORICAL, AND HUMANITARIAN LEGACY OF LOUIS ARMSTRONG BY PRESERVING AND INTERPRETING ARMSTRONG'S HOUSE AND GROUNDS, COLLECTING AND SHARING ARCHIVAL MATERIALS THAT DOCUMENT ARMSTRONG'S LIFE AND LEGACY, AND PRESENTING PUBLIC PROGRAMS SUCH AS EXHIBITS, CONCERTS, LECTURES, AND FILM SCREENINGS. THE MUSEUM SEEKS TO EDUCATE AND INSPIRE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, ORIGINS, AND LOCATIONS.

LAHM IS IN THE MIDST OF AN EXCITING PHYSICAL AND PROGRAMMATIC EXPANSION THAT WILL DRAMATICALLY INCREASE ITS CAPACITY TO FULFILL THE MISSION OF SUSTAINING AND PROMOTING THE CULTURAL, HISTORICAL, AND HUMANITARIAN LEGACY OF LOUIS ARMSTRONG. IN SUMMER OF 2023 WE WILL BE OPENING THE LONG-AWAITED LOUIS ARMSTRONG EDUCATIONAL CENTER WHICH WILL BE THE NEW HOME OF THE LOUIS ARMSTRONG ARCHIVES, HOST A STATE-OF-THE ART EXHIBITION SPACE, AND PRESENT INTERDISCIPLINARY PERFORMANCE IN ITS 70-SEAT VENUE. IN PREPARATION FOR THIS GRAND OPENING, IN 2022 WE PRODUCED A SERIES OF PROGRAMMING WHICH RESEMBLE ARMSTRONG'S VALUES OF: PRESERVING AND SHARING THE LEGACY, ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE, EDUCATION, AND COMMUNITY.PRESERVING AND SHARING THE LEGACY:HISTORIC HOUSE TOURS: OPEN FROM THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY AND WITH SPECIALIZED GROUP TOURS THROUGHOUT THE WEEK, OUR 40-MINUTE GUIDED TOURS HAVE WELCOMED THOUSANDS OF VISITORS ALL OVER THE WORLD.HERE TO STAY EXHIBIT: JASON MORAN, JAZZ PIANIST, HAS COMPLETED THE CURATION OF OUR NEW CENTER'S EXHIBIT AND THE INSTALLATION IS IN PROCESS.MAPPING THE HISTORY OF JAZZ AND HIP-HOP IN QUEENS: WE RECEIVED A GRANT FROM THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES TO DOCUMENT THE HISTORY OF JAZZ AND HIP-HOP IN QUEENS, NEW YORK. THIS PAST NOVEMBER, WE CELEBRATED LOUIS ARMSTRONG AND HIS ARTISTIC LEGACY THROUGH A LIVE PERFORMANCE: "ARMSTRONG NOW AT DIZZY'S." ONE OF THIS GENERATION'S BRIGHTEST STARS IN JAZZ, MATTHEW WHITAKER BROUGHT HIS PIANO TRIO TO DIZZY'S ALONG WITH DANCER AND CHOREOGRAPHER ALAIN HURRIKANE LAUTURE TO PREMIERE THE WORK THEY CREATED AS ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE OF THE MUSEUM.GARDEN CONCERTS: THIS PAST OCTOBER, WE HOSTED A CONCERT IN THE ARMSTRONG GARDEN FEATURING ULYSSES OWENS JR.
