THE PURPOSE OF THE SOCIETY SHALL BE TO GATHER FROM ALL RELEVANT FIELDS OF STUDY, AND TO DISSEMINATE AMONG ITS MEMBERS, CURRENT KNOWLEDGE OF RHETORIC BRODLY CONSTRUED; TO IDENTIFY NEW AREAS WITHIN THE SUBJECT OF RHETORIC IN WHICH IS ESPECIALLY NEEDED, AND TO STIMULATE SUCH RESEARCH; TO ENCOURAGE EXPERIMENTATION IN THE TEACHING OF RHETORIC; TO FACILITATE PROFESSIONAL COOPERATION AMONG ITS MEMBERS, TO ORGANIZE MEETINGS AT WHICH MEMBERS MAY EXCHANGE FINDINGS AND IDEAS; AND TO SPONSOR THE PUBLICATION OF SUCH MATERIALS DEALING WITH RHETORIC.

- THE BIENNIAL CONFERENCE IS HELD IN EVEN NUMBERED YEARS, SO IT WAS NOT HELD IN 2021. - THE BIENNIAL INSTITUTE WAS HELD VIRTUALLY IN 2021. THE EVENT CONSISTED OF VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS WITH OVER 450 ATTENDEES OVER A 6 DAY PERIOD. - RHETORIC SOCIETY QUARTERLY - IS A SCHOLARLY JOURNAL WITH 5 ISSUES PER YEAR; WITH CIRCULATION OF OVER 1,200 PER ISSSUE. - STUDENT CHAPTERS - CONTINUED TO MEET WITH ONLINE WEBINARS AND INPERSON LECTURES. THEY CONTINUED WITH CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARDS. - FOUR ENDOWMWNT FUNDS - CORBETT, LAUER, LEFF AND LUNSFORD CONTINUE TO PROVIDE INTEREST RESERVED FOR STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS TO RSA ACTIVITIES.
