THE MISSION OF GLOBAL LIVINGSTON INSTITUTE IS TO EDUCATE STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS ON INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

IN 2022, GLI WORKED IN THREE MAJOR PROGRAMMING AREAS: GLOBAL CLASSROOMS, PUBLIC HEALTH, AND GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY INITIATIVES. WITH THE GLOBAL CLASSROOMS PROGRAM, GLI ENGAGED 146 HIGH SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING DESIGNED TO FOSTER CULTURAL EXCHANGE AND TEACH BEST PRACTICES IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. GLI PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAMS CONNECTED 5,217 INDIVIDUALS IN UGANDA WITH HEALTH CARE SERVICES - NAMELY, HIV AND NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASE (NCD) SERVICES - AND RAISED AWARENESS FOR VARIOUS HEALTH CAUSES THROUGHOUT UGANDA. GLI GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY INITIATIVES INVOLVED PROGRAMS RELATED TO RECYCLING AND THE ENVIRONMENT, WATER SAFETY, EDUCATION, AND MORE. THROUGH GLI RECYCLING CENTERS IN UGANDA, GLI HELPED FACILITATE THE REMOVAL OF MORE THAN 100 TONS OF PLASTIC FROM THE ENVIRONMENT. IN 2022 GLI RAISED AN ADDITIONAL $100,000 FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT OF RESORT 29 - OUR COMMUNITY CENTER AND RESORT ON LAKE BUNYONYI IN SOUTHWESTERN UGANDA. WITH THE DOLLARS RAISED FOR THIS CAPITAL CAMPAIGN, WE WILL ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF THE CENTER AND DESIGN A SPACE THAT WILL ENHANCE ALL OF GLI'S PROGRAMMING.
