NATIONAL GREEN WEEK IS AN ANNUAL EVENT THAT EMPOWERS SCHOOLS TO ENGAGE IN SUSTAINABILITY FOCUSED LESSONS, PROJECTS OR ACTIVITIES BETWEEN THE FIRST FULL WEEK IN FEBRUARY AND THE END OF EARTH MONTH (APRIL). PARTICIPATING DISCTRICTS, SCHOOLS, CLASSROOMS OR YOUTH GROUPS CHOOSE A WEEK, THEN SELECT FROM GEF'S SUSTAINABILITY FOCUSED PROGRAMS (GREEN ENERGY CHALLENGE, GREEN BUILDING PROGRAM, SUSTAINABLE WATER CHALLENGE AND GREEN THUMB CHALLENGE) TO BE THEIR "GREEN THEME". EACH THEME PROVIDES FIVE DAY STANDARDS-BASED LESSONS SETS, ACTIVITIES, RECOMENDED READING, SUSTAINABILITY TIPS, CONTESTS,AND MORE OVER 10,000 SCHOOLS AND 5 MILLIION STUDENTS PARTICIPATE ANNUALLY IN THE LARGEST SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION PROGRAM RUNNING
