MISSOURI BUDGET PROJECT'S (MBP) MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL MISSOURIANS BY INFORMING PUBLIC POLICY DECISIONS THROUGH OBJECTIVE RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS OF STATE BUDGET, TAX AND ECONOMIC ISSUES.

RESEARCH: THE MISSOURI BUDGET PROJECT (MBP) STAFF CONDUCTED RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS, PRODUCING 31 UNIQUE ANALYSES IN 2021. THESE ANALYSES AN ARRAY OF ISSUES INCLUDING THE IMPACT OF STATE BUDGET AND TAX POLICY PROPOSALS ON PUBLIC SERVICES, A SERIES THAT ANALYZED THE IMPACT OF STATE AND FEDERAL COVID RESPONSE POLICIES, PARTICULARLY THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN, ON MISSOURIANS, AND A SERIES OF "BUDGET PRIMERS", WHICH ARE INTENDED TO HELP MISSOURIANS UNDERSTAND THE STATE BUDGET AND BUDGET PRIORITIES. THE REPORTS ARE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC, POLICYMAKERS, BUSINESS AND CIVIC LEADERS AND THE MEDIA. THEY ROUTINELY REACH 132,000 MISSOURIANS THROUGH DISTRIBUTION BY PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS.


OUTREACH: MBP PROVIDED PRESENTATIONS AT 41 COMMUNITY FORUMS IN 2021, REACHING DIVERSE AUDIENCES THROUGHOUT THE STATE. THE PRESENTATIONS WERE PROVIDED AT CONFERENCES, COMMUNITY FORUMS AND MEETINGS. IN ADDITION TO PUBLIC OUTREACH THROUGH COMMUNITY MEETINGS AND PUBLIC FORUMS, THE MBP PROVIDES MEDIA OUTREACH THROUGH TRADITIONAL AND SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS TO FOSTER BROADER PUBLIC AWARENESS OF ISSUES. DURING 2021 MBP'S OUTREACH TO TRADITIONAL MEDIA RESULTED IN 394 MEDIA CLIPS. MBP'S SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS REACH AS MANY AS 159,313 MISSOURIANS EACH MONTH.


COVER OUR KIDS: MBP PARTNERED WITH KIDS WIN MISSOURI AND THE MISSOURI COALITION OF CHILDREN'S AGENCIES TO CONDUCT ANALYSIS AND OUTREACH TO RAISE AWARENESS OF POLICY ISSUES IMPACTING CHILD HEALTH COVERAGE.
