COMMUNITY LIVING ARRANGEMENTS - GOODWILL OPERATES TEN GROUP HOMES IN LUZERNE AND LACKAWANNA COUNTIES. THESE PERSON CENTERED HOMES PROVIDE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES TO BE PART OF THEIR COMMUNITY. ASSISTED BY TRAINED STAFF, EACH PERSON IS SUPPORTED IN ACQUIRING, RETAINING, AND IMPROVING THEIR INDEPENDENCE, SOCIALIZATION AND ADAPTIVE SKILLS NECESSARY TO RESIDE IN THEIR HOME. EACH INDIVIDUAL IS ENCOURAGED TO LIVE A FULL LIFE MEETING THEIR NEEDS AND HOPE FOR THE FUTURE.
COMMUNITY SUPPORTS- GOODWILL OFFERS SEVERAL DIFFERENT SERVICES SUCH AS COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION SUPPORTS, SMALL GROUP EMPLOYMENT, TRANSITION PROGRAM AND TRANSPORTATION SERVICES. -- COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION SUPPORTS-PRE-EMPLOYMENT SERVICE FOCUSES ON INDIVIDUALS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENT DISABILITIES ARE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR NEW EXPERIENCES AND INTERESTS, THE POTENTIAL TO DEVELOP FRIENDSHIPS AND THE ABILITY TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO THEIR COMMUNITY. SMALL GROUP EMPLOYMENT-FOCUSED ON THE INDIVIDUALS SKILL LEVEL AND ABILITY, IT SUPPORTS INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE TRANSITIONING TO COMPETITIVE INTEGRATED EMPLOYMENT THROUGH A WORK EXPERIENCE. TRANSITIION PROGRAM-PROGRAM FOCUSES ON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TRANSITIONING INTO THE COMMUNITY. IT HELPS TO BUILD THEIR CONFIDENCE AND SOCIALIZATION.
COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT - GOODWILL PROVIDES HANDS-ON JOB TRAINING TO THOSE FACING BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT, SUCH AS PHYSICAL AND/OR INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES, INCARCERATION AND DEPENDENCIES. ASSISTED BY A CERTIFIED EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST, THE PARTICIPANTS GAIN TRAINING IN INTERVIEWING SKILLS, PROPER HYGIENE, DRESS CODE AND OTHER AREAS OF JOB READINESS. THE JOBS PAY THE SAME WAGE AND BENEFITS RECEIVED BY OTHER EMPLOYEES. THE EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST/JOB COACH ACCOMPANIES PARTICIPANTS TO THEIR JOB TOENSURE SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE.
