PROMOTING THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF THE AREA BY EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ON THE VALUE OF PRESERVATION AND INTERPRETATION. THE KALONA HISTORICAL SOCIETY ATTEMPTS TO PERFORM THIS BY: 1. MAINTAINING HISTORICALLY-ACCURATE BUILDINGS THAT CONTAIN PERIOD- APPROPRIATE EXHIBITS, 2. COLLECTING AND PRESERVING OVER 800 ANTIQUE QUILTS, AND 3. HOSTING TOURS TO EDUCATE VISITORS ABOUT THE CULTURE AND TRADITIONS OF MENNONITE AND AMISH WAYS OF LIFE.
