THE MISSION OF NEVADA HUMANITIES IS TO CONNECT AND TRANSFORM COMMUNITIES BY SHARING AND AMPLIFYING THE STORIES, IDEAS, EXPERIENCES, AND TRADITIONS OF THE DIVERSE PEOPLE OF NEVADA

WITH OFFICES IN RENO AND LAS VEGAS, NEVADA HUMANITIES CREATES PUBLIC PROGRAMS AND SUPPORTS PUBLIC PROJECTS STATEWIDE THAT DEFINE THE NEVADA EXPERIENCE, ENCOURAGE INTELLECTUAL CURIOSITY, AND FACILITATE THE EXPLORATION OF ISSUES THAT MATTER TO NEVADANS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES. FOUNDED IN 1971 AND INCORPORATED AS A 501C3 NONPROFIT IN 1975, NEVADA HUMANITIES IS ONE OF 56 STATE TERRITORIAL HUMANITIES COUNCILS AFFLIATED WITH THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES. NEVADA HUMANITIES PROGRAMS INCLUDE NEVADA HUMANITIES EXHIBITION SERIES, LAS VEGAS WRITES, LAS VEGAS BOOK FESTIVAL, YOUNG CHAUTAUQUA, NEVADA HUMANITIES LITERARY CRAWL, NEVADA HUMANITIES AWARDS, THE ONLINE NEVADA ENCYCLOPEDIA, THE SALON AND POP-UP SALON PROGRAMS, NEVADA READS, NEVADA CENTER FOR THE BOOK, HUMANITIES HEART TO HEART, HALCYON PUBLICATION SERIES, AND SPECIAL INITIATIVES. THROUGH ITS GRANT MAKING PROGRAM, NEVADA HUMANITIES PROVIDES DIRECT FUNDING TO MANY OF NEVADA'S CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS.
