ARTS FOR LA SERVES AS THE ONLY CROSS-DISCIPLINE, CROSS-SECTOR CONVENOR FOR THE ARTS AND CULTURE INDUSTRY IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY; AN INDUSTRY THAT YIELDS 2.3 BILLION DOLLARS IN REVENUE FOR THE REGION. WE SUPPORT RESEARCH THAT DEEPENS ARTS FOR LA'S UNDERSTANDING OF THE VARIOUS FACTORS THAT MOST IMPACT THE SECTOR, AS WELL AS UPLIFT INNOVATIVE MODELS AND PRACTICES FROM ACROSS THE FIELD.

COMMUNICATIONS AND EDUCATION - PROVIDED ONLINE INFORMATION ABOUT ARTS AND CULTURE POLICY ISSUES TO OVER 75,000 SUBSCRIBERS OF OUR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS. WE LED OUTREACH AND EDUCATION CAMPAIGNS DESIGNED TO INFORM LOS ANGELES COUNTY ON THE VALUE OF THE ARTS IN THE REGION. WE COORDINATED REGIONAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS TO BUILD AWARENESS OF THE ISSUES THAT IMPACT CREATIVE INDUSTRIES IN LOS ANGELES AND ARE A RESOURCE FOR THE MEDIA, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, OFFICIALS AND THE INDUSTRY. WE ACT AS A SPOKESPERSON FOR THE ARTS AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES IN THE REGION. EACH YEAR, ARTS FOR LA CONDUCTS RESEARCH IN A SPECIFIC POLICY AREA THAT IMPACTS THE LOS ANGELES ARTS AND CULTURE SECTOR. THE RESEARCH AIMS TO DEEPEN ARTS FOR LA'S UNDERSTANDING OF THE VARIOUS FACTORS THAT IMPACT THE SECTOR AND LEARN FROM AND EXTEND THE BEST WORK IN THE FIELD. IN 2020, ARTS FOR LA LED A SERIES OF CONVERSATIONS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND HOW TO INTEGRATE ARTISTS AS INNOVATORS WITHIN GOVERNMENT. THESE CONVERSATIONS RESULTED IN A FIELD RESEARCH REPORT THAT WAS SHARED ACROSS THE REGION AND THE FINDINGS CONTINUE TO INFLUENCE LOCAL AND COUNTY GOVERNMENT ON HOW TO PARTNER WITH ARTISTS TO DRIVE INNOVATION ACROSS THE REGION. TRAINING AND MENTORING: WE TRAINED 55 COMMUNITY MEMBERS THROUGH OUR ACTIVATE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. COMMUNITY MEMBERS WERE TRAINED TO UNDERSTAND THE POLITICAL PROCESS AND HOW TO BE CIVICALLY ENGAGED IN LOS ANGELES, WHILE HELPING THEM FORMULATE PROGRAMS AND PROPOSALS TO SUPPORT THE ARTS. THESE 55 COMMUNITY MEMBERS JOINED A NETWORK OF OVER 480 INDIVIDUALS THAT ARTS FOR LA CONTINUES TO ENGAGE IN SUPPORT OF ARTISTS, ARTS WORKERS, AND ARTS ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE LOS ANGELES REGION. ADDITIONALLY, WE EDUCATED 665 EDUCATORS, PARENTS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF ARTS EDUCATION AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT FOR ARTS EDUCATION TO BE INCLUDED IN LEARNING CONTINUITY AND ATTENDANCE PLANS FOR SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
ADVOCACY: ARTS FOR LA LEADS PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGNS, COALITION BUILDING, RESEARCH, AND POLICY REFORMS. WE HAVE ENGAGED OUR PARTNERS TO BE ALLIES IN ADVANCING A STRONG AGENDA IN SUPPORT OF CULTURAL EQUITY SOLUTIONS IN LOS ANGELES. ADDITIONALLY, WE MENTOR, EDUCATE AND SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS IN THE ARTS SECTOR, HELPING THEM FORMULATE PROGRAMS AND PROPOSALS TO SUPPORT THE ARTS. OUR CONVENINGS SERVE AS AN EDUCATIONAL PLATFORM ABOUT THE ARTS SECTOR AND CREATIVE ECONOMY IN THE LARGERCONTEXT OF LOS ANGELES' ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND HEALTH SECTORS. A HIGHLIGHT INCLUDES ARTS FOR LA'S PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN "ARTS," DEVELOPED TO HELP STAKEHOLDERS TO UNDERSTAND THE ECONOMIC CRISIS THE ARTS FIELD WAS EXPERIENCING DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC CLOSURES. AS A RESULT, THE CITY AND COUNTY COMMITTED OVER 77 MILLION DOLLARS OF CORONAVIRUS, AID, RELIEF AND ECONOMIC SECURITY (CARES) ACT AND AMERICAN RESCUE (ARP) PLAN FEDERAL DOLLARS TO RELIEF AND RECOVERY FUNDS FOR ARTISTS AND ORGANIZATIONS, WHILE PRIVATE PHILANTHROPY CREATED A HISTORIC RELIEF FUNDS IN LOS ANGELES FOR ARTISTS AND ARTS ORGANIZATIONS SUPPORTED THROUGH LOCAL AND NATIONAL FOUNDATIONS.
