THE REGION ENCOMPASSES THE MOST DIVERSE ECOSYSTEMS TO SUPPORT FISH AND AQUATIC LIFE; FROM LARGE RIVERS TO MAINTAIN STREAMS, RESERVOIRS AND LAKES, ESTUARIES, MARINE AND COASTAL WATERS, AND EVEN DESERT SPRINGS.THE SOCIETY BUILDS RELATIONSHIPS AMONG MEMBERS IN PUBLIC AGENCIES, UNIVERSITIES, AND PRIVATE AND NON-PROFIT GROUPS. SCIENCE AND MANAGEMENT OF FISHERIES IS IMPROVED THROUGH THE AFS JOURNAL PUBLICATIONS AND CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS. THE SOCIETY PROVIDES SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION TO DECISION-MAKERS.
