SHAW HAS APPROXIMATELY 300 SKATERS AGES 3-19.DEVO(3-5)STRESSES DRILLS AND BASIC SKATING.MIN-MITE(5-7)BEGINS THE PROCESS OF LEARNING ABOUT THE GAME OF HOCKEY,TEAMS ARE BROUGHT IN TO PLAY, NO SCORE IS KEPT,AND THEY PARTICIPATE IN TOURNAMENTS. MITE(UNDER 8)IS FOCUSED ON SKATING SKILLS AND EXPANDING THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GAME.PENALITIES AND GOALIES ARE INTRODUCED. SQUIRET(UNDER 10)START SKATING ON FULL ICE. BASIC SKILLS ARE STRESSED, GAME OF HOCKEY BECOMES THE FOCUS AND TOURNAMENTS ARE PLAYED.THIS IS THE FIRST LEVEL OF COMPETITIVE PLAY. PEEWEE(UNDER 12)EXPANDS ON PREVIOUS PROGRAM AND STRESSES FUNDAMENTALS BANTAM(UNDER 14)IS THE FIRST LEVEL WHERE PLAYERS ARE ALLOWED TO CHECK. HIGH SCHOOL(UNDER 19) COMPETES IN A SANCTIONED CONFERENCE.
