Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
JUBILEE MINISTRIES EXISTS TO SERVE THOSE AFFECTED BY INCARCERATION BY BEING AMBASSADORS OF LIFE CHANGE THROUGH THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
JUBILEE STORES -JUBILEES THRIFT STORE OPERATION EXISTS FOR THE SAME PURPOSE AS OUR MINISTRY PROGRAMS TO SERVE THOSE AFFECTED BY INCARCERATION. THE STORES OFFER LOW-COST MERCHANDISE FOR SALE TO PERSONS IN THE CITY AND SURROUNDING AREAS. THEY ALSO PROVIDE FINANCIAL RESOURCES THAT EMPOWER LIFE CHANGE FOR THOSE IN PRISONS AND IN OUR AFTERCARE PROGRAM. OUR STORES ARE A PLACE FOR THE COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS MINISTRY, BY DONATING MATERIAL ITEMS AND SHOPPING. BEHIND THE SCENES, IN PROCESSING MATERIAL DONATIONS AND IN THE PICKUP AND DELIVERY OF STORE ITEMS, OUR AFTERCARE STUDENTS ARE EMPLOYED AND GAIN VALUABLE ON-THE-JOB SKILLS. WE HAVE LOCATIONS IN ANNVILLE, LEBANON, MANHEIM, MYERSTOWN, PALMYRA, WERNERSVILLE, AND CAN ALSO BE FOUND ONLINE.
JUBILEES PRISON MINISTRY- DID YOU KNOW THAT THE CHURCH IS THRIVING BEHIND BARS? THERE ARE FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST, WORSHIPING IN PRISONS TOGETHER AS THE BODY OF BELIEVERS. LIKE ANY CHURCH, THOSE IN PRISON RECEIVE THE WORD, AND ARE CHALLENGED TO WALK IT OUT IN THEIR LIFE. OUR CHAPLAINS LEAD WORSHIP SERVICES, TEACH BIBLE STUDIES, PROVIDE INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING, OVERSEE PRE-RELEASE CLASSES, TEACH DISCIPLESHIP CLASSES, VISIT CELL BLOCKS, AND MINISTER TO PRISON STAFF. JUBILEE PROVIDES FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME CHAPLAIN STAFF IN STATE AND COUNTY PRISONS THROUGHOUT PA. OUR CHAPLAINS SERVE IN LEBANON COUNTY, LUZERNE COUNTY, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, AND SNYDER COUNTY; AND IN THE STATE CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS AT CAMP HILL, FRACKVILLE, AND MAHANOY.
JUBILEE AFTERCARE PROGRAM - OFFERS A STRUCTURED ENVIRONMENT THAT PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEN TO HAVE THEIR HEARTS AND LIVES TRANSFORMED THROUGH A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST. WITH CHRIST AT THE CENTER, WE SEEK TO ADDRESS THE DEEP NEEDS OF THOSE CAUGHT IN CYCLES OF ADDICTION AND INCARCERATION. THIS IS A PHASED-BASED PROGRAM; COMPLETION IS NOT DETERMINED BY THE AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT IN THE PROGRAM, BUT RATHER THE SUCCESSFUL PROGRESSION THROUGH EACH PHASE. EACH PHASE CONSISTS OF SPECIFIC GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES THAT TARGET GROWTH IN RELATIONSHIPS, LIFE SKILLS, CAREER OPPORTUNITIES, RECOVERY FROM ADDICTION, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, FAITH. STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN BIBLE STUDIES, COUNSELING SESSIONS, STEP PROGRAMS, AND LIFE SKILLS TRAINING. STUDENTS RECEIVE ON-THE-JOB TRAINING AT OUR JUBILEE THRIFT STORE FOR A MINIMUM OF 500 HOURS BEFORE PURSUING EMPLOYMENT IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. THE HIGHEST OCCUPANCY IN 2021 WAS 22 STUDENTS. A TOTAL OF 36 MEN WERE IN THE PROGRAM AT VARIOUS TIMES THROUGHT THE YEAR.THE HIGHEST OCCUPANCY IN 2020 WAS 20 STUDENTS. A TOTAL OF 45 MEN WERE IN THE PROGRAM AT VARIOUS TIMES THROUGHOUT 2020.
OTHER COMMUNITY SERVICES EACH YEAR, CHILDREN WHO ARE IMPACTED BY HAVING A PARENT FACING INCARCERATION OR IN JUBILEES AFTERCARE PROGRAM ARE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND ONE WEEK OF SUMMER CAMP. THERE THEY LEARN ABOUT JESUS, AND HAVE TONS OF FUN, OFTEN IN CONTRAST TO THEIR CHALLENGING CIRCUMSTANCES. IN 2020, MOST CAMPS WERE CLOSED, BUT AS THINGS SLOWLY OPENED IN 2021 WE WERE ABLE TO OFFER 11 KIDS A SUMMER CAMPING EXPERIENCE. MATERIAL ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED TO ASSIST FAMILIES OF INMATES AND INDIVIDUALS RECENTLY RELEASED FROM PRISON WHO ARE FACING FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES RELATED TO THEIR INCARCERATION. THE ASSISTANCE INCLUDES CLOTHING, FURNITURE, HOUSEWARES, ID ASSISTANCE, AND BUS/TRAIN FARE. OUR CASEWORKERS FULFILLED 64 REQUESTS FOR MATERIAL ASSISTANCE IN 2021, AND 75 REQUESTS FOR MATERIAL ASSISTANCE IN 2020. WITH A MINISTRY AS LARGE AND DIVERSE AS JUBILEE, THERE ARE ALWAYS UNIQUE WAYS TO GET INVOLVED, AND VOLUNTEERING IS A WAY THAT MANY ARE ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR INDIVIDUALS, GROUPS, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE. IN 2021, 392 VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED 21,019 VOLUNTEER HOURS. IN 2020, 352 VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED 14,394 HOURS.
