COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND SUPPORT - HELP FOR PEOPLE WITH AN INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES SUCH AS FAMILY SUPPORT SESSIONS (TRAININGS ON TOPICS OF INTEREST); SIBTALK (A RECREATIONAL TIME FOR KIDS AGES 8-12 WITH A SIBLING WITH A DISABILITY); ARC ANGELS (FACILITATES GIFTS GIVEN BY THE COMMUNITY TO OVER 700 INDIVIDUALS WITH INTELLECTUAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES); DISABILITY ACCEPTANCE TRAINING (HELPING KIDS GRADES K-6 HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING OF PEERS WITH DISABILITIES, REACHING OVER 6,500 STUDENTS ANNUALLY); AND OUTREACH TO THE COMMUNITY WORKING TO CREAT A WORLD WHERE DISABILITY IS ACCEPTED AS A NATURAL PART OF OUR SOCIETY.
IM4Q INDEPENDENT MONITORING FOR QUALITY. THE ARC MANAGES THE STATEWIDE PROGRAM FOR LANCASTER COUNTY AND SCHUYLKILL COUNTY. THE PROGRAM SURVEYS PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES TO ASCERTAIN THE QUALITY OF THEIR SERVICES WHICH ARE FUNDED THROUGH WAIVERS. A TEAM OF MONITORS CONDUCTS THE SURVEY TO PERSONS SELECTED BY THE OFFICE OF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. THE RESULTS ARE COMPARED ACROSS THE REGION, STATE, AND NATION TO ASCERTAIN THE QUALITY OF SERVICES AND TO MAKE POSITIVE CHANGES IN THE LIVES OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.
