NC GREENPOWER PROMOTES THE DEVELOPMENT AND USE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY IN NC AND CARBON OFFSETS IN NC/SC/VA.IN ADDITION NC GREENPOWER THROUGH IT SOLAR SCHOOLS PROGRAM PROVIDES GRANTS FOR EDUCATIONAL SOLAR PACKAGES TO NORTH CAROLINA K-12 SCHOOLS. WITH DUKE ENERGY RENEWABLE ENERGY (MASS MARKET PRODUCT) DONORS SWITCHING OVER TO SUPPORT SOLAR+ SCHOOLS IN 2021, THERE ARE CURRENTLY 729 ELECTRIC UTILITY CUSTOMERS SUBSCRIBED TO THE RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCT, PROVIDING A PREMIUM ABOVE THE USUAL MONTHLY UTILITY PAYMENTS TO SUPPORT APPROXIMATELY 4,871,318 KWH OF ENERGY ANNUALLY COMING FROM RENEWABLE ENERGY INSTEAD OF TRADITIONAL SOURCES SUCH AS COAL.
FOR CARBON OFFSETS, 247 ELECTRIC UTLITY CUSTOMERS SUBSCRIBED TO SUPPORT THE MITIGATION OF 2,214 TONS OF CARBON DIOXIDE.
FOR THE DUKE ENERGY DONORS WHO SWITCHED TO SUPPORT SOLAR+ SCHOOLS, THE PROGRAM HAD 4,820 CONTRIBUTORS.
