CANCER ALLIANCE NETWORK, INC. (THE ORGANIZATION), IS A FLORIDA NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION ESTABLISHED IN OCTOBER 2002 AS CANCER ALLIANCE OF NAPLES, INC. AND CHANGED ITS NAME TO CANCER ALLIANCE NETWORK, INC. ON MARCH 11, 2022. CANS PHYSICAL OFFICE IS IN LEE COUNTY. THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF LOCAL CHILDREN AND ADULTS, OF ALL AGES, AFFECTED BY ANY TYPE OF CANCER BY PROVIDING NEED-BASED, NON-MEDICAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, RESOURCES AND SUPPORT TO THOSE CANCER PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. CAN PROVIDES SERVICES TO CLIENTS LIVING IN COLLIER, LEE, HENDRY, AND GLADES COUNTIES IN FLORIDA. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022-2022, CANCER ALLIANCE NETWORK, INC. FOR CANS CLIENTS, A CANCER DIAGNOSIS BRINGS EXTRA EXPENSES SUCH AS COPAYS, PRESCRIPTIONS, AND OTHER UNFORSEEN MEDICAL NEEDS. ADDITIONALLY, THERES A HEIGHTENED DEMAND FOR TRAVEL TO MEDICAL AND TREATMENT APPOINTMENTS. CAN PROVIDES FINANCIAL AID IN INSTANCES WHERE CANCER HINDERS A PATIENT OR CAREGIVERS ABILITY TO WORK. THIS SUPPORT INCLUDES RENT/MORTGAGE PAYMENTS, INSURANCE, UTILITY BILLS, PHONE BILLS, GROCERY/GAS CARDS, CAR PAYMENTS, CAR REPAIRS, AND SOMETIMES FUNERAL ASSISTANCE. THE BURDEN OF A CANCER DIAGNOSIS ADDS TO THE DAILY STRESSORS OF LIFE. THESE FAMILIES STRIVE TO STAY AFLOAT, OFTEN UNDERESTIMATING THE STRESS BROUGHT ON BY A CANCER DIAGNOSIS. CAN ACTS AS A SAFETY NET FOR THESE FAMILIES WHEN THEY HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO TURN.THE FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM IS FOR CLIENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY UNDERGOING CANCER TREATMENT OR ARE IN HOSPICE CARE AND MEET INCOME ELIGIBILITY. CAN ENROLLS PATIENTS AND FAMILIES WHO ARE UP TO 250% OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY GUIDELINE. CLIENTS IN ALL OTHER CAN SUPPORT PROGRAMS DO NOT NEED TO MEET INCOME ELIGIBILITY OR ACTIVE TREATMENT CRITERIA. ALL PROGRAMS ARE FREE OF CHARGE. WHEN A FAMILY JOINS CAN, STAFF STRIVE TO ADDRESS THEIR NEEDS, EVEN THOSE BEYOND THE DIRECT SERVICES OFFERED. CAN STAFF RESEARCH AND REFER CLIENTS TO OTHER COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND HELP WITH COMPLETING APLICATIONS. CAN PARTNERS WITH THESE LOCAL AGENCIES TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND ENSURE SUCCESSFUL OUTCOMES FOR CLIENTS. THE ORGANIZATION ADDITIONALLY OPERATES THE KIDSCAN PROGRAM, WHICH IS COMPRISED OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO PROVIDE COMMUNITY SERVICE, LEARN LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND RAISE MONEY FOR AND AWARD COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR LOCAL GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WHO ARE BATTLING CANCER OR WHO HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER WITH CANCER. THE ACCOUNTING AND REPORTING POLICIES OF THE ORGANIZATION CONFROM TO ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES GENERALLY ACCEPTED IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND ARE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AUDIT GUIDE ISSUED BY THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS, NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND THE ACCOUNTING STANDARDS ISSUED BY THE FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING STANDARDS BOARD (FASB) IN THE ACCOUNTING STANDARDS CODIFICATION (ASC).

ANY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IN A COLLIER COUNTY OR LEE COUNTY SCHOOL CAN JOIN KIDSCAN. SCHOOLS CAN HAVE CHAPTERS OR INDIVIDUAL STUDENT MEMBERS. CHAPTERS ARE LED BY A SCHOOL STAFF, WHO IS THE LIAISON BETWEEN THE SCHOOL AND CANCER ALLIANCE NETWORK (CAN). THESE CHAPTERS OR INDIVIDUALS PROVIDE ON-GOING SUPPORT FOR CANS MISSION AND HELP RAISE SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WHO HAVE BENN AFFECTED BY CANCER. KIDSCAN MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN VOLUNTEER AND COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITES WITH CAN AND OTHER PARTNER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY.
