FOOD FOR LIFE HAS PROVIDED OVERSIGHT, LEADERSHIP AND DEDICATED ITS WORK TO CREATING SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT WILL MUTUALLY BENEFIT ITS TARGET POPULATION AND SOCIETY BY MOVING INDIVIDUALS TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND INDEPENDENT LIVING. FFL HAS DEDICATED ITS WORK TO PROVIDING SOLUTIONS TO HOMELESSNESS AND THE OVER-CROWDING OF CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS. OFFENDERS AND THEIR FAMILIES CONTINUE TO BE ONE OF OUR TARGET POPULATIONS.

FOOD FOR LIFE OPERATE VARIOUS HOUSING PROGRAMS STARTED IN THE EARLY 1990'S IN COOPERATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WELFARE, THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING & URBAN DEVELOPMENT AND THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA. WHAT BEGAN AS A HOMELESS-SHELTER AND SOUP KITCHENS INITIATIVE HAS EVOLVED INTO AN AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM THAT NOW SERVICES HUNDREDS OF MEMBERS OF DISTRESSED POPULATIONS SUCH AS LOW-INCOME, SENIOR, AND MENTAL HEALTH CLIENTS IN THE PHILADELPHIA AND SURROUNDING AREAS. FOOD FOR LIFE PARTNERS WITH OTHER UNRELATED NONPROFIT ENTITIES SHARING THE SAME VISION AS THEM BY LEASING AVAILABLE HOUSING TO THESE INDIVIDUALS TO CARRY OUT ITS MISSIONS.
