DNA ANNUAL CONVENTION - NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL EVENT THAT DRAWS MORE THAN 300 DERMATOLOGY NURSE PROFESSIONALS PRACTICING IN PRIVATE AND UNIVERSITY-BASED DERMATOLOGY OFFICES. THE MULTI-DAY EVENT PROVIDES EDUCATION, NETWORKING AND INFORMATION FOR THE NURSE PRACTITIONER, RN, LPN/LVN AND MEDICAL ASSISTANT. COUPLED WITH AN EXHIBIT PROGRAM, PARTICIPANTS ARE AFFORDED BASIC AS WELL AS SPECIALIZED PROGRAMMING ON TOPICS AND ISSUES SPECIFIC TO DERMATOLOGY NURSING INCLUDING ASSESSMENT, TREATMENT, AND MANAGEMENT OF A WIDE-RANGE OF DERMATOLOGIC CONDITIONS.


EDUCATION AND WORKSHOPS - [1] DNA FUNDAMENTALS IN PHOTOTHERAPY WORKSHOP - THIS SPECIAL PHOTOTHERAPY PROGRAM WAS DEVELOPED BY DNA IN TRIBUTE TO JOAN SHELK, DNA PAST PRESIDENT AND THE DEVELOPER OF DNA'S FIRST WORKSHOP. THE WORKSHOP IS AN INTENSIVE ONE-DAY IN-PERSON TRAINING OR AS AN ONLINE SELF-PACED COURSE FOR THOSE ADMINISTERING LIGHT THERAPY UNDER A DOCTOR'S SUPERVISION. THE WORKSHOP COVERS PSORIASIS AND OTHER PHOTO-RESPONSIVE SKIN DISEASES, SUCH AS PUVA, NARROW AND BROAD BAND UVB THERAPY, EQUIPMENT OPERATION AND METERING, AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH PHOTOTHERAPY ADMINISTRATION. THE IN-PERSON WORKSHOP IS OFFERED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DNA ANNUAL CONVENTION, AS A PRIVATE WORKSHOP AS REQUESTED, OR ONLINE. [2] DERMATOLOGY NURSING ESSENTIALS WORKSHOP - 1 DAY SESSION OFFERED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DNA ANNUAL CONVENTION THAT WAS DEVELOPED FOR THE NEW OR EXPERIENCED DERAMTOLOGY CARE PROVIDER (NP, RN, LPN, MA, OFFICE STAFF) TO HELP THEM GAIN AN OVERALL UNDERSTANDING OF THE BODY'S BIGGEST ORGAN, THE INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM. ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY TO COMMON DISEASES AND TREATMENTS ENCOUNTERED IN DERMATOLOGY ARE THE FOCUS. THIS COURSE IS ALSO RECOMMENDED FOR DERMATOLOGY NURSES WHO WORK IN SPECIALIZED DERAMTOLOGY PRACTICES, SUCH AS SURGERY OR COSMETICS DERMATOLOGY, OR WHO ARE REVIEWING FOR NATIONAL CERTIFICATION IN DERMATOLOGY NURSING. MANY OF THIS EXPERT FACULTY HAVE AUTHORED CHAPTERS I THE DNA TEXTBOOK, DERMATOLOGIC NURSING ESSENTIALS, A CORE CURRICULUME, THIRD EDITION. THIS WORKSHOP IS BEING CONVERTED TO AN ONLINE SELF-PACED COURSE. [3] AESTHETIC WORKSHOP - A HALF-DAY BASICS OR A HALF-DAY ADVANCED WORKSHOP OFFERED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DNA ANNUAL CONVENTION THAT WAS DEVELOPED FOR NURSES AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS, EMPHASIZING BOTH THE BASICS OF COSMETIC DERMATOLOGY, AS WELL AS NEW AND INNOVATIVE THERAPIES. DIVERSE EXPERTS IN COSMETIC DERMATOLOGY WILL OFFER EDUCATION ON TOPICS INCLUDING NEUROTOXINS, VARIETY OF FILLERS AND OTHER INJECTABLES, LIPOSUCTION, BLEPHAROPLASTY, LASERS AND OTHER REJUVENATING PROCEDURES.
