KIDSPIRIT CELEBRATED ITS 15TH YEAR IN PRINT IN 2022, AND ITS NETWORK OF YOUNG EDITORS GREW TO INCLUDE ABOUT 190 TEENAGERS ON 20 EDITORIAL BOARDS IN NEW YORK, CALIFORNIA, KENTUCKY, TEXAS, PUERTO RICO, AUSTRALIA, CHINA, HAITI, INDIA, JORDAN, LIBERIA, PAKISTAN, PARAGUAY, SINGAPORE, SPAIN, TAIWAN, THE U.K., AND UKRAINE. THROUGH THEIR WRITING, ART, VIDEO, AND CONVERSATIONS, YOUTH SUBSTANTIVELY ENGAGED WITH THE 2022 THEMES: TIME AND SPACE, WHO AM I?, CITIZENSHIP, AND DREAMS AND DESIRES. KIDSPIRIT'S ONLINE WORKSHOPS CONTINUED TO PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN SUPPORTING TEENS THROUGH THE PANDEMIC. BY OFFERING THREE UNIQUE WORKSHOP EXPERIENCES (KIDSPIRIT CONNECT, EDITING WORKSHOPS, AND THE BELONGING PROJECT), KIDSPIRIT PROVIDED YOUTH AROUND THE WORLD OPPORTUNITIES FOR CONNECTION DURING A CHALLENGING TIME. TWENTY-EIGHT EDITORS WERE SELECTED BY THEIR PEERS TO RECEIVE KIDSPIRIT AWARDS THIS PAST YEAR. THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH UNITY PRODUCTIONS FOUNDATION, KIDSPIRIT LAUNCHED A NEW SECTION OF ITS WEBSITE DEVOTED TO SHARING POETRY BY YOUTH FROM MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES. THESE POEMS WERE CREATED DURING THE UPF UNFOLD YOUR OWN MYTH PROGRAM, DESIGNED TO HELP YOUNG PEOPLE OVERCOME HARDSHIP AND TRAUMA THROUGH CREATIVE EXPRESSION. KIDSPIRIT CONTINUES TO BE SYNDICATED ON SPIRITUALITY & PRACTICE, A PLATFORM THAT CREATES AND CURATES MEANINGFUL CONTENT FOR HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF READERS, ON THE BLOG KIDSPIRIT YOUTH VOICES. IN 2022, KIDSPIRIT RECEIVED GENERAL OPERATING GRANTS FROM THE FORD FOUNDATION, MASTERCARD IMPACT FUND, MARC HAAS FOUNDATION, AND M&T BANK CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, GROWING ITS PHILANTHROPIC FOUNDATION AND CORPORATE SUPPORT. FINALLY, KIDSPIRIT CONTINUED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE WIDER INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY THROUGH CONSULTATIVE STATUS WITH THE UNITED NATIONS ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL (ECOSOC) AND FORMAL ASSOCIATION WITH THE UN DEPARTMENT OF GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS.
