THIS INITIATIVE FOCUSES ON THE FOLLOWING: INCREASING TEACHING ARTIST OPPORTUNITIES; TRAVEL TO CONDUCT SITE VISITS AND ASSESSMENTS OF POTENTIAL PARTNERS; INCREASING TEACHING ARTIST RECRUITMENT EFFORTS; AND TARGETING FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH LOCAL EVENTS.

ARTS AT INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE'S NEWCOMER YOUTH SUMMER ACADEMY - NEW YORK CITYARTS IGNITE TEACHING ARTISTS PROVIDED THE CREATIVE ARTS CLASSES AT THE NEWCOMER YOUTH SUMMER ACADEMY (NYSA), A SIX-WEEK CAMP IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE, WHICH SUPPORTS THE PERSONAL GROWTH, CULTURAL ADJUSTMENT, AND EDUCATION OF MULTICULTURAL REFUGEE/ASYLEE YOUTH AND HELPS THEM SUCCESSFULLY TRANSITION INTO THE US SCHOOL SYSTEM.
