SOUTH ORANGE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (SOPAC), IN ITS INTIMATE VENUE, CONNECTS AUDIENCES TO ARTISTS THROUGH PERFORMANCES, PARTNERSHIPS AND ARTS EDUCATION ACTIVITIES THAT REFLECT THE DIVERSITY OF THE REGION.

IN 2021, AT THE HEIGHT OF COVID, MAINSTAGE PERFORMANCES WERE MOVED TO VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING. 25 PERFORMANCES TOOK PLACE IN FY 2021, 22 OF WHICH WERE VIRTUAL AND 3 IN AT THE VENUE. SOPAC'S PROGRAMMING IS A CAREFULLY CONSIDERED MIX, WITH BOTH POPULAR APPEAL AND CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE, REFLECTING THE DIVERSE COMMUNITIES SERVED. SOPAC'S SUPERB ACOUSTICS AND SMALL SIZE CREATE A UNIQUE AND INTIMATE CONNECTION BETWEEN ARTISTS AND AUDIENCES, AND ITS NICHE HAS BECOME PRESENTING SINGER-SONGWRITERS. SOPAC HONORS AMERICANA, JAZZ AND BLUES; SUPPORTS THE WORK OF NEW JERSEY'S CHOREOGRAPHERS AND DANCE COMPANIES AND PRESENTS INSPIRING CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING.
