OPERATE A PERFORMING ARTS FACILITY IN FLUSHING-MEADOWS CORONA PARK, QUEENS THAT PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTIONS AND OTHER PROGRAMS IN THE DRAMATIC, MUSICAL AND RELATED ARTS, ENCOURAGESAND FACILITATES THE USE OF ITS FACILITY AS A RESOURCE CENTER BY OTHER NOT-FOR-PR0FIT ORGANIZATIONS, AND PROVIDES ARTS-IN-EDUCATION PROGRAMMING FOR YOUTHS INCLUDING IN-SCHOOL WORKSHOPS AND LIVE PERFORMING ARTS EXPERIENCE.

WHEN QT CLOSED DUE TO COVID-19 IN MARCH 2020, WE CREATED OUR FIRST EVER ONLINE PROGRAMMING AS DIVERSE AND ACCESSIBLE AS THE PROGRAMMING WE OFFER ONSITE. THE FIRST EVENT OCCURRED WITHIN A WEEK OF CLOSURE. FROM THEN ON THROUGH JUNE 2021, WE RELEASED NEW WORK EACH WEEK, OFFERING ALL EVENTS FREE-OF-COST. WORKS STREAMED ON QUEENS THEATRE'S WEBSITE, FACEBOOK AND YOUTUBE PAGES.IN THE 2020-21 SEASON, QT PRODUCED DOZENS OF PROGRAMS ONLINE FROM PERFORMANCES TO INTERACTIVE PROGRAMS TO COMMUNITY AND AFFINITY SUPPORT GROUPS, WITH A TOTAL OF OVER 500 DIFFERENT EVENTS/SHOWINGS FOR APPROXIMATELY 25,000 VIEWERS. MORE THAN 650 ARTISTS WERE ENGAGED AND MORE THAN 3000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS OR COMMUNITY EVENTS. FISCAL YEAR 2021 PROGRAMS INCLUDED- THEATEREIGHT READINGS FROM THE NEW PLAY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, NEW AMERICAN VOICES; GIFTED, A 3-EPISODE WEB SERIES; OUR STORY, WEEKLY PRESENTATIONS OF FOUR LONG-FORM STORIES BY PROFESSIONAL STORYTELLERS; THE FLY ON THE WALL SERIES, THROUGH MULTIPLE ONLINE READINGS BEGINNING EARLY IN THE PLAY DEVELOPMENT PROCESS, PATRONS FOLLOW AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON A QT COMMISSIONED PLAY BY DOUGLAS LYON'S, INVISIBLE; THE MONKEY KING - THE DIGITAL PREMIERE OF A NEW MUSICAL BASED ON THE CLASSIC CHINESE FOLKTALE; I SEE YOU AND YOU SEE ME, A FILM WITH MONOLOGUES INSPIRED BY MATERIALS SUBMITTED TO THE QUEENS MEMORY PROJECT BY QUEENS RESIDENTS BASED ON THEIR EXPERIENCES DURING THE INITIAL SHUTDOWN DUE TO COVID19. - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTRECHARGING OUR JOY -BLACK WOMXN AFFINITY SPACE, A WEEKLY SPACE FOR BLACK WOMEN TO CONNECT; AAPI HEALING CIRCLE, A SERIES OF VIRTUAL SPACES OPEN TO ALL INDIVIDUALS WHO IDENTIFY AS PART OF THE AAPI COMMUNITY; MULTIPLE LIVE PROGRAMS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS, INCLUDING THE SENIOR GOLDEN HITS WELLNESS PROGRAM, AND A DANCE CLASS, MOVIN' N GROOVIN; MULTIPLE FAMILY-FOCUSED EVENTS, TO PROVIDE NEW, JOYFUL ACTIVITIES: FAMILY GAME SHOW, FAMILY JAMS, FAMILY IMPROV; QUEENS STORYTELLERS ONLINE, PROFESSIONAL STORYTELLERS PRESENTED IN A WEEKLY SERIES; THE STONEWALL LEGACY PROJECT - MULTIPLE EVENTS BY LGBTQ+ ARTISTS.


- THEATRE FOR ALLIN JUNE/JULY 2020, QT WORKED ON EVENTS IN CELEBRATION OF THE 30-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE PASSING OF THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA). QT PARTNERED WITH LINCOLN CENTER TO PRODUCE THE SHORT PLAY DEATH BITES, (A PLAY FROM QT'S TFA READING SERIES), AND PARTNERED WITH THE MUSEUM, ARTS AND CULTURE ACCESS CONSORTIUM (MAC), TO PRODUCE A READING OF EMILY DRIVER'S GREAT RACE THROUGH TIME AND SPACE! OUR THEATRE FOR ALL (TFA) TRAINING PROGRAM FOR DEAF/DISABLED ACTORS MOVED ONLINE WITH ITS 3RD AND 4TH ROUNDS OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM, WITH BEGINNER AND ADVANCED LEVEL TRACKS.- EDUCATION THEATER EDUCATION PROGRAMS WERE HELD ONLINE AS WAS SHOWSTOPPERS -QT'S SUMMER MUSICAL THEATRE PROGRAM TRANSITIONED TO ONLINE, FOR CHILDREN AGES OF 8-13. KIDS CREATED A MUSICAL AND THE FINAL PERFORMANCE WAS PRESENTED AT AN ONLINE WATCH PARTY.


- DANCESUMMER VIBEZ, A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN DC-BASED SOLE DEFINED AND COMPANIES FROM THE QUEENSBORO DANCE FESTIVAL (QDF). THE EVENT FEATURED THE PERFORMANCES OF THOSE WORKS, PERFORMANCES BY SOLE DEFINED ARTISTS, AND A LIVE DJ TO ENCOURAGE VIEWERS TO DANCE ALONG. QDF RETURNED FOR THREE NIGHTS OF PERFORMANCES BY 24 LOCAL DANCE COMPANIES REPRESENTING DANCE CULTURES FROM HULA TO HIP-HOP, WEST AFRICAN TO CHINESE, BALLROOM TO STREET JAZZ, AND MANY MORE AS WELL AS PERFORMED HOLIDAY DANCES AROUND THE WORLD'S BOROUGH.TURNING IN PLACE; THE WOMEN CHOREOGRAPHER DANCE FILM SHOWCASE FEATURED SEVEN UP AND COMING WOMAN-IDENTIFIED CHOREOGRAPHERS AND WOMAN-LED DANCE COMPANIES, PRESENTING ORIGINAL FILMED WORKS.
