ADOPTION: IN 2023 HAPPILY EVER AFTER EXPERIENCED RECORD-BREAKING ADOPTION OUTCOMES. IN TOTAL 761 DOGS AND CATS WERE PLACED WITH FAMILIES IN 107 COMMUNITIES. SPAY/NEUTER: HEA FACILITATED 2,731 SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES IN 2023. THIS WAS A RECORD FOR THE PROGRAM. THESE EFFORTS INCLUDED THE SPAYING OF 1,299 FEMALE CATS. THESE ACTIONS PREVENTED MORE THAN 88,000 FELINE OFFSPRING FROM BEING BORN OVER THE NEXT (4) YEARS. THE NUMBER OF OFFSPRING PREVENTED IS THE EQUIVALENT OF 250 YEARS OF HEA'S FELINE INTAKE. THIS PROGRAM GREW ITS TOTAL SURGERY COUNT BY 100% OVER 2022. SIMILARLY, THE NUMBER OF CATS WHO WERE SPAYED TROUGH THIS PROGRAM INCREASED BY 100% COMPARED TO 2022.REHABILITATION & LIFETIME CARE: AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2023, 18% OF THE DOGS AND CATS AT HEA WERE MEMBERS OF HEA'S REHABILITATION AND LIFETIME CARE PROGRAMS.
