THE PTO IS AN ALL VOLUNTEER RUN ORGANIZATION THAT IS DRIVEN TO RAISE MONEY FOR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS. FUNDS RAISED ARE ADDED TO GENERAL FUNDS TO PAY FOR THE BUDGETED PTO PROGRAMS FOR THE YEAR, AND PTO OPERATING EXPENSES. THERE ARE THREE MAJOR FUNDRAISING EVENTS IN THE YEAR, WITH APPROXIMATELY 10% COMING FROM SMALLER FUNDRAISERS: 1) VOLUNTARY TUITION COLLECTION. SOLICITATIONS ARE CONDUCTED IN PERSON (ON SCHOOL PREMISES), VIA EMAIL, AND VIA LETTERS SENT HOME FROM SCHOOL WITH STUDENTS. A VOLUNTARY TUITION COLLECTION DRIVE IS CONDUCTED FOR 2-3 WEEKS AT THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. SOLICITATIONS ARE CONDUCTED BY MEMBERS OF THE PTO. 2) FUND RUN. THIS EVENT IS CONDUCTED ON THE SCHOOL PREMISES. THE FUND RUN IS AN ACTIVITY CONDUCTED BY THE PTO AND PARENT VOLUNTEERS IN WHICH CHILDREN OF THE SCHOOL ARE ENCOURAGED TO RAISE MONEY FOR LAPS THEY RUN ON A DESIGNATED DATE/TIME. THIS ACTIVITY OCCURS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. IN ADDITION, THE PTO RECEIVES DONATIONS FROM LOCAL BUSINESSES IN SUPPORT OF THE FUND RUND AND THE BUSINESS NAMES ARE SPONSORED ON BANNERS AT THE SCHOOL OR ON SOCIAL MEDIA. 3) COASTSIDE GIVES. COASTSIDE GIVES IS A COMMUNITY WIDE FUNDRAISING EVENT IN WHICH MOST LOCAL NON PROFITS PARTICIPATE. FUNDS ARE RAISED THROUGH MAVERICKS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (501(C)(3) NON-PROFIT EIN 47-4343134), AND THE PTO RECEIVES THE FUNDS DONATED THROUGH THIS EVENT FROM THEM. 4) SMALLER FUNDRAISER CONTRIBUTING TO APPROXIMATELY 10% OF THE ANNUAL FUNDRAISING INCLUDE: - BOOK FAIR. PTO ARRANGES AN OFFLINE BOOK FAIR WHERE A PORTION OF A LOCAL BOOK STORES SALES FOR ONE WEEK ARE DONATED TO THE PTO. - ESCRIP SALES. PTO ACQUIRES FUNDS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FROM THE SALE OF SCRIPT CARDS. MOST PURCHASES ARE PERFORMED THROUGH THE SCRIP WEBSITE WITH EL GRANADA PTO AS THE DESIGNATED RECIPIENT. - FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT. THE PTO RAISES FUNDS THROUGH SALES OF SNACK FOOD DONATED BY FAMILIES FOR THE EVENT. - BIRTHDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS. THE PTO ASKS A VOLUNTARY DONATION TO WRITE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO STUDENTS ON THE SCHOOL MARQUEE. - AD HOC DONATIONS FROM COMMUNITY MEMBERS OUTSIDE OF THE THREE MAJOR FUNDRAISERS, INCLUDING THROUGH CORPORATE GIVING PORTALS SUCH AS BENEVITY. - SWEETHEART DANCE. THE PTO HOSTS A DANCE IN FEBRUARY AND WITH TICKETS SOLD FOR A SUGGESTED DONATION.
