BLCI PROVIDES CHILDREN FROM UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES THE INFORMATION AND OPPORTUNITIES NEEDED TO ENROLL IN COLLEGE AND HELP THEM BE SUCCESSFUL WHILE THERE. THE GOAL IS TO CHANGE THE QUESTION OF WHETHER THESE CHILDREN WILL GO TO COLLEGE TO WHERE WILL THEY GO TO COLLEGE. BLCI PROVIDE COACHING FROM ADULTS WHO KNOW WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE THE FIRST IN THEIR FAMILIES TO GO TO COLLEGE, PROVIDES COLLEGE PREP THROUGH AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS THAT BEGIN IN 3RD GRADE, AND REQUIRE 30 HOURS PER YEAR OF PARENT PARTICIPATION TO ENSURE FAMILY COMMITMENT TO ADVANCE THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATIONAL ASPIRATIONS. BLCI OFFERS INDIVIDUALIZED, CULTURALLY RELEVANT SERVICE TO EACH FAMILY. TO DATE, 100% OF BLCI STUDENTS ENROLL IN COLLEGE.
