THE MISSION OF FAITH AND ACTION FOR STRENGTH TOGETHER (FAST) IS TO IMPACT LONG-RANGE CHANGE ON COMMUNITY ISSUES SUCH AS EDUCATION, HOUSING AND EMPLOYMENT, BY ENGAGING PEOPLE OF FAITH.

INTERFAITH PROGRAMS: FAST TRAINED LEADERS FROM DIVERSE FAITH, RACIAL, AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS. THROUGH SMALL GROUP MEETINGS, FAST HAS FOSTERED AN INTERFAITH AND CROSS-RACIAL UNITY.
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION: FAST INVOLVED 2500 COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN COMING TOGETHER TO BRING PUBLICITY TO COMMUNITY PROBLEMS. PINELLAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, THREE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS, THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR AND TWO MENTAL HEALTH FUNDERS WERE PRESENT TO SHOW THEIR SUPPORT FOR ADDRESSING COMMUNITY PROBLEMS.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: FAST TRAINED 120 RESIDENTS TO BECOME LEADERS BY ORGANIZING MEMBERS OF THEIR CONGREGATIONS INTO NETWORKS OR SYSTEMS OF RELATIONSHIPS, THAT WORK TO IMPROVE THE COMMUNITY. WHEN LARGE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE ARE NEEDED TO ADDRESS A SPECIFIC COMMUNITY PROBLEM, THESE TRAINED LEADERS ACTIVELY ENGAGE THEIR NETWORKS TO PARTICIPATE IN COMMUNITY ACTION EVENTS. LEADERS ARE ALSO TRAINED TO RESEARCH THE ROOT CAUSES OF COMMUNITY PROBLEMS AND WORK WITH THE COMMUNITY TO DEVELOP SOLUTIONS.
