THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES AND MAINTAINS THE JAPANESE FRIENDSHIP GARDEN LOCATED IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA. IN FY2023, WE WELCOMED 117,697 VISITORS THROUGH OUR PROGRAMS WHICH INCLUDES DAILY GENERAL ADMISSIONS, TICKETED EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS, AND PRIVATE USE RENTALS. THE LARGEST EVENT WAS OUR FALL OTSUKIMI FESTIVAL, WHICH SAW ALMOST 2000 GUESTS. WE NOW OFFER A LARGE-SCALE CULTURAL EVENT OR EXHIBIT IN 10 OF THE 12 MONTHS OF THE YEAR. WE GREATLY EXPANDED OUR EDUCATION DEPARTMENT, OFFERING NEW WORKSHOPS, SHOWCASING PERFORMERS AND ARTISTS FROM ALL OVER JAPAN. OUR TEA CEREMONIES CONTINUE TO SELL OUT AS SOON AS THEY ARE MADE AVAILABLE, AND WE ARE FURTHER ACTIVATING OUR TEA HOUSE WITH TEA TOURS AND MUSICAL PERFORMANCES. ANOTHER 100 NEW TREES AND SHRUBS WERE PLANTED IN THE GARDEN, ALONG WITH THE ADDITION OF A NEW SITTING AREA AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE GARDEN. OUR CURATOR WAS SENT TO JAPAN FOR THREE MONTHS OF TRAINING WITH ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED LANDSCAPE DESIGNERS IN JAPAN.
