THE UNDERCURRENT BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS EXPANDED THE PURPOSE OF THIS CORPORATION: 1. TO INFORM SCUBA DIVERS ABOUT HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES AND DIVING OPPORTUNITIES, WHILE SUPPORTING CONSERVATION PROJECTS IMPORTANT TO DIVERS.2. TO SUPPORT WILD ANIMAL, LAND, OCEAN, AND OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PROGRAMS BY IDENTIFYING THOSE ORGANIZATIONS WITH EFFECTIVE PROJECTS AND FINANCIAL NEEDS, SEEKING SOURCES FOR SUPPORT, AND HELPING THEM FUND SPECIFIC PROJECTS.IN THE FURTHERANCE OF EDUCATING SCUBA DIVERS ABOUT HEALTH, TRAVEL AND SAFETY ISSUES WORLDWIDE, THE ORGANIZATION PUBLISHED 10 ONLINE NEWSLETTERS TO SUBSCRIBERS, OPERATED A FREE WEB SITE AND SENT OUT 20,000 EMAILS (15,000 TO THE PUBLIC UPON REQUEST). THE PUBLIC AREA PROVIDES A SEASONAL PLANNER, TRAVEL INDEX, EQUIPMENT INDEX, HEALTH AND SAFETY ARTICLES, AND OTHER RELATED INFORMATION, ALL AVAILABLE AT NO CHARGE.GRANTS TO THE TIKKI HYWOOD FOUNDATION IN HARARE, ZIMBABWE, SUPPORT THEIR EXTENDED EFFORT TO PROTECT WILD PANGOLINS, THE MOST POACHED MAMMAL IN THE WORLD, BY RESCUING, REHABILITATING AND RELEASING ANIMALS RETRIEVED FROM ILLEGAL TRADE.GRANTS TO THE SOUTH AFRICAN CARE FOR WILD RHINO SANCTUARY AIDS THEIR PROGRAM TO PROTECT 50 WILD RHINOS. THEY ARE DEVELOPING THE EXISTING REHABILITATION CENTER INTO A SECURE STRONGHOLD TO ACCOMMODATE 100 BLACK AND WHITE RHINOS AS A VIABLE AND SECURE BREEDING POPULATION. GRANTS TO THE NATURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION NETWORK (UGANDA) HELP THEM IMPLEMENT THEIR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UGANDA WILDLIFE AUTHORITY IN WILDLIFE CRIME LAW ENFORCEMENT. NRCN PROSECUTORS ARE LICENSED TO PRACTICE AS ADVOCATES IN BOTH THE SUPREME COURT OF UGANDA AND SUBORDINATE JUDICIARIES TO PRIVATELY PROSECUTE WILDLIFE CRIMINAL CASES. GRANTS TO THE NATURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION NETWORK (NRCN) COMBAT WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING IN UGANDA BY INCREASING THE INVESTIGATIVE CAPACITY OF WILDLIFE LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND IN THE LONG RUN, DETER POTENTIAL POACHERS AND TRAFFICKERS. NRCN HAS UNCOVERED COMPLICITY AMONG SEVERAL ERRANT OFFICERS IN THE UGANDA WILDLIFE AUTHORITY, UGANDA PEOPLES DEFENSE FORCE, AND THE UGANDAN POLICE. GRANTS TO THE NAMIBIA NATURE FOUNDATION FUND AND THE ROOIKAT TRUST FOR THEIR CROSS-BORDER AND NATIONAL COUNTER WILDLIFE CRIME SUPPORT PROGRAM, SUPPORT THE PROTECTION OF WILD ANIMALS IN SEVERAL AFRICAN NATIONS, INCLUDING TANZANIA, MALAWI, ZIMBABWE, AND ZAMBIA.
