THE SOCIETY PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR TWO CHILDREN'S HOSPITALS, NEW YORK PRESBYTERIAN KOMANSKY CHLDREN'S HOSPITAL AND THE ROYAL HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN IN GLASGOW, SCOTLAND.


THE SOCIETY PROMOTES SCOTTISH HERITAGE BY CONTRIBUTING TO THE PEOPLE AND PLACES WHO BUILD THE FABRIC OF OUR COMMUNITY IN NEW YORK, THE NATION AND ACROSS THE POND IN SCOTLAND.


THE SOCIETY AWARDS FIVE SCHOLARSHIPS ANNUALLY, EACH VALUED AT $35,000 USD, TO SUPPORT GRADUATE STUDY FOR ONE YEAR - THREE FOR US STUDENTS TO STUDY IN SCOTLAND AND TWO FOR SCOTTISH STUDENTS TO STUDY IN THE UNITED STATES - ALL OF WHOM ARE INVITED TO STUDY AT A UNIVERSITY IN THEIR RESPECTIVE AREAS OF STUDY TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION. THE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE GRANTED FOR TUITION, MAINTENANCE AND TRAVEL. THE CANDIDATES ARE OF THE HIGHEST CALIBER AND HAVE VARYING FIELDS OF INTEREST: LAW, FINANCE, JOURNALISM, EDUCATION AND THE ARTS.


THE ALMONER PROGRAM CONTINUES THE WORK OF THE SOCIETY'S ORIGINAL MISSION, AS PER THE SOCIETY'S CONSTITUTION, TO SUPPORT THOSE OF SCOTTISH BIRTH OR DESCENT WHO ARE IN NEED. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED TO THE ELDERLY, THE TERMINALLY ILL, THE DISABLED, INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES AND CHILDREN IN CRISIS. THE ALMONER'S COMMITTEE WORKS WITH SOCIAL SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS TO IDENTIFY RECIPIENTS.STIPEND RECIPIENTS RECEIVE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN ADDITION TO PERSONAL SUPPORT FROM OUR SOCIAL WORKER AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS. THE ALMONER'S COMMITTEE CONTINUES ITS DAILY COMMITMENT TO PROVIDING HANDS-ON CARE TO SCOTS IN NEED.
