EXPENDITURES FOR THE PLANNING, DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A VISITOR CONTACT STATION AT KATAHDIN WOODS AND WATERS NATIONAL MONUMENT, LOCATED TO THE EAST OF BAXTER STATE PARK IN NORTHERN MAINE. EXPENDITURES INCLUDED BUT WERE NOT LIMITED TO CONSTRUCTION, CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT, DESIGN, SIMILAR RELATED EXPENSES. EXPENITURES ALSO INCLUDED EDUCATION AND ORIENTATION PLANNING EXPENDITURES REGARDING THE INSTALLATION OF INTERPRETIVE EXHIBITS AND MEDIA FOR THE PURPOSES OF ORIENTING AND EDUCATING THE PUBLIC. THE FOUNDATION RECEIVED $4,698,154 OF CONTRIBUTIONS, GIFTS, AND GRANTS FROM UNRELATED PARTIES TO ASSIST IN THE FUNDING OF THESE EXPENDITURES.
