THE SCARBOROUGH LAND TRUST IS A PRIVATE, NON-PROFIT, COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATION WITH A MISSION TO CONSERVE AND STEWARD LAND WHERE NATURAL AND AGRICULTURAL RESOURCES, SCENIC VISTAS, AND HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE OFFER UNIQUE VALUE TO OUR COMMUNITY.

SCARBOROUGH LAND TRUST CONTINUES TO WORK ON PROTECTING LAND IN THE TOWN OF SCARBOROUGH. DURING THIS YEAR SLT CLOSED ON SEVERAL PROPERTIES PROTECTING 96.5 ACRES. THESE FOUR PROPERTIES PROTECTED STRETCHES OF THE NONESUCH RIVER, FLOODPLAIN, WETLANDS, AND FORESTED UPLANDS.
SCARBOROUGH LAND TRUST CONTINUES TO WORK ON PROTECTING LAND IN THE TOWN OF SCARBOROUGH. DURING THIS YEAR MOST OF THE FOCUS WAS ON ENTERING INTO A SALE AGREEMENT FOR ONE PROPERTY ALONG THE NONESUCH RIVER. WE ALSO WORKED ON AN EFFORT TO MAP EXISTING CONSERVATION LAND AND TO LOOK AT DEVELOPMENT OVER TIME IN THE TOWN.
SCARBOROUGH LAND TRUST CONDUCTS VARIOUS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR THE PUBLIC. SLT ALSO HAVE VARIOUS OUTREACH AND COMMUNICATION VEHICLES FOR INTERACTION WITH THE PUBLIC, INCLUDING SOCIAL MEDIA, WEBSITE, E-NEWSLETTERS AND PARTNER PUBLICATIONS. A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS WERE CONDUCTED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, INCLUDING PROGRAMS ON AGRICULTURE, BIRDS, PLANTS, HABITATS, AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT. IN ADDITION, SLT HAD PROGRAMS FOCUSED ON OUTDOOR RECREATION, SUCH AS SNOWSHOEING AND HIKING.
