THE NATIONAL CARTOONISTS SOCIETY, INC. WAS ORGANIZED TO ADVANCE THE IDEALS AND STANDARDS OF THE PROFESSION OF CARTOONING AND TO ASSIST THROUGH FINANCIAL OR PROFESSIONAL MEANS NEEDY CARTOONIST.PROFESSIONAL CONVENTIONS HELD INCLUDED REUBEN WEEKEND, COMIC-CON AND OTHER MEETINGS. THE 2018 REUBEN WEEKEND WAS HELD MAY 24-26 IN PHILADELPHIA, PA.THE 2019 REUBEN WEEKEND IS MAY 17-19 IN HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA. EACH YEAR A RECIPIENT IS CHOSEN TO RECEIVE THE REUBEN AWARD FOR THE OUTSTANDING CARTOONIST OF THE YEAR.
