THE CAREER COMPASS PROGRAM SERVES BROOKLYN AND MANHATTAN ADULT RESIDENTS RECEIVING CASH ASSISTANCE. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES A COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT TO ASSIST INDIVIDUALS ON CREATING A REALISTIC CAREER PLAN THAT MAY INCLUDE EDUCATION, VOCATIONAL TRAINING, OR IMMEDIATE JOB PLACEMENT. INDIVIDUALS EVALUATE THEIR SKILLS, INTERESTS, AND PERSONAL ABILITIES TO CREATE AN INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYMENT PLAN. STAFF PROVIDE ONGOING COUNSELING, CASE MANAGEMENT, RETENTION SERVICES ALONG WITH FOLLOW-UP FOR ONE YEAR. IN FY21, THE CAREER COMPASS PROGRAM ENROLLED 8,827 CLIENTS.
SUBSTANCE USE CENTRALIZED ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (SUCAP) PROVIDES ASSESSMENT AND REFERRAL SERVICES TO PUBLIC ASSISTANCE CLIENTS WHO MAY HAVE CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY-RELATED BARRIERS TO WORK. IT HAS CONDUCTED MORE THAN 975,000 ASSESSMENTS SINCE INCEPTION. THE PROGRAM OFFERS INDIVIDUALIZED SERVICE PLANS BY ADDRESSING HOUSING, SUBSTANCE ABUSE, MEDICAL AND MENTAL CONDITIONS AND LEGAL BARRIERS.
PROJECT ACE (ASSESSMENT*CASE MANAGEMENT*EMPLOYMENT) IS AN INTENSIVE EMPLOYMENT-FOCUSED CASE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM THAT HELPS MORE THAN 700 NEW YORK CITY RESIDENTS MONTHLY. STAFF CONDUCT CLIENT SUBSTANCE USE AND WORK ASSESSMENTS AND THEN DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT COMPREHENSIVE, INDIVIDUALIZED SERVICE PLANS BY ADDRESSING HOUSING, SUBSTANCE USE, MEDICAL AND MENTAL CONDITIONS AND LEGAL BARRIERS. CLIENTS ARE ASSESSED FOR WORK-READINESS, AND REFERRED FRO EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENTS. PROJECT ACE HELPS CLIENTS MOVE TOWARD ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY.
