AQUINAS HOUSING CORPORATION BEGAN ITS SENIOR SERVICES PROGRAM IN 1987 THROUGH OUR SENIOR SERVICE PROGRAM, WE PROVIDE A WIDE RANGE OF SERVICES TO SENIOR CITIZENS LIVING IN OUR COMMUNITY. AQUINAS HOUSING CORPORATION IS THE SPONSOR OF TWO HUD SENIOR CITIZEN PROPERTIES, AND THESE PROGRAM FACILITIES AND OFFICES ARE BASED WITHIN EACH. HOWEVER, THE PROGRAM'S OFFERING ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE RESIDENTS OF THOSE PROPERTIES. THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY IS WELCOME TO UTILIZE OUR PROGRAMMING. THE BROAD GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO GIVE FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUAL SENIORS THE RESOURCES TO IMPROVE AND SUSTAIN AN INDEPENDENT LIFESTYLE. WE WORK TO MAINTAIN THE PHYSICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL WELL-BEING OF OUR SENIORS, AND TO MAKE CERTAIN THAT THEY RECEIVE THE ATTENTION AND THE BENEFITS THEY DESERVE. SOCIAL, CULTURAL AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR OUR SENIORS ARE HELD IN GROUP SETTINGS, AND WE SCHEDULE ARTS AND CRAFTS CLASSES, GAME NIGHTS AND MOVIE NIGHTS REGULARLY DURING THE WEEK. WE ALSO ARRANGE MONTHLY MEDICAL WORKSHOPS FOCUSED ON A NUMBER OF ISSUES SUCH AS BLOOD PRESSURE AWARENESS AND STROKE PREVENTION, ELDER ABUSE, MEDICAID AND MEDICARE NAVIGATION, FIRE SAFETY AND DIABETES. WE HOLD PERIODIC WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS ADDRESSING SUCH TOPICS AS BEREAVEMENT AND LIVING WILLS. THE AQUINAS HOUSING SENIOR SERVICE PROGRAM IS DEDICATED TO ASSIST THE SENIOR CITIZENRY OF EAST TREMONT AND WEST FARMS IN ACHIEVING THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE QUALITY OF LIFE, BOTH IN THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL SENSE.
