CHILD CARE RESOURCE AND REFERRAL - A PROGRAM THAT ASSISTS MORE THAN 10,000 PARENTS, CHILD CARE PROFESSIONALS AND INDIVIDUALS SEEKING INFORMATION/TRAINING IN THE EARLY CHILDHOOD FIELD ANNUALLY WITH THE FOLLOWING CORE PROGRAMS: CHILD CARE INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES, HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAINING FOR EXISTING FAMILY CHILD CARE PROVIDERS, OUTREACH AND TRAINING FOR INFORMAL PROVIDERS, FINGERPRINTING SERVICES, MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION TRAINING, START-UP AND HEALTH AND SAFETY GRANTS, INFANT/TODDLER CONSULTATION AND TRAINING, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR CHILD CARE PROVIDERS.THE COUNCIL WAS ALSO AWARDED EMERGENCY CARES GRANTS TO ASSIST ESSENTIAL WORKERS WITH DAY CARE PAYMENTS AND ALSO TO PROVIDE CHILD CARE PROVIDERS WITH SUPPLIES DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS.
JAMES C. HALL FAMILY CHILD CARE NETWORK - A PROGRAM SERVING APPROXIMATELY 150 FAMILY CHILD CARE PROVIDERS IN JAMAICA, QUEENS, BY OFFERING THE CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM, EARLY CHILDHOOD TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN THE AREAS OF BUDGET AND PROGRAM MANAGEMENT AND PUBLIC RELATIONS.
THE EARLY CHILDHOOD CAREER LADDER (ECCL) PROGRAM SEEKS TO STRENGTHEN THE QUALITY OF CARE CHILDREN RECEIVE BY INCREASING THE NUMBER OF CERTIFIED TEACHING PROFESSIONALS IN NEW YORK CITY'S EARLY CHILDHOOD COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS. ECCL AIMS TO DO THIS BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS WHO WANT TO ADVANCE THEIR CAREERS PROFESSIONALLY BY CONTINUING THEIR EDUCATION. TO BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE FINANCIAL SUPPORT, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST BE EMPLOYED AT A DCCNY-REPRESENTED CHILD CARE CENTER, ACTIVE WORKING UNION MEMBER, AND ACTIVELY PURSUING A CAREER IN EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHING OR AIDING. THE ECCL PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS COVER ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH ATTENDING SCHOOL, AND PROVIDES STIPENDS FOR TEXTBOOKS AND OTHER FEES.
LABOR RELATIONS ASSISTANCE SERVICES PROVIDES MEDIATION AND ARBITRATION SERVICE TO THE COUNCIL'S MEMBER AGENCIES THAT ARE UNIONIZED UNDER DC 1707 AND THE COUNCIL OF SUPERVISORS AND ADMINISTRATION. IN ADDITION, THE COUNCIL PROVIDES TRAINING, WORKSHOPS AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE PROGRAM.
