APSAA HAS A VIBRANT & INNOVATIVE PROGRAM FOR THE MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSION & THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

COMMITTEES OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL AND OF THE CORPORATIONTHESE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:- FUNDING PSYCHOANALYTICALLY-ORIENTED RESEARCH- ADVOCACY ON ISSUES CONCERNING THE PSYCHOANALYTIC PROFESSION AND ITS PATIENTS- COMMUNICATIONS TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ABOUT PSYCHOANALYSIS - OUTREACH IN ENCOURAGING EARLY-CAREER MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS INTEREST IN PSYCHOANALYSIS- ADMINISTERING A CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT- EVALUATING AND ACCREDITING EDUCATIONAL POLICIES AND PRACTICES OF PSYCHOANALYTIC TRAINING INSTITUTE PROGRAMSFUND FOR PSYCHOANALYTIC RESEARCH - TO SUPPORT BASIC AND APPLIED RESEARCH INVOLVING PSYCHOANALYTIC PERSPECTIVES AND OBSERVATIONS; TO SUPPORT YOUNG SCHOLARS INTERESTED IN PSYCHOANALYTIC RESEARCH; TO PROVIDE PSYCHOANALYTIC SCHOLARS AN OPPORTUNITY TO CONSULT WITH EXPERIENCED INVESTIGATORS.


SEMI-ANNUAL MEETINGS THE ASSOCIATION AND ITS MORE THAN 3,000 HIGHLY TRAINED MEMBERS GATHER AT BIANNUAL MEETINGS IN FEBRUARY AND JUNE TO EXCHANGE IDEAS, PRESENT RESEARCH PAPERS, AND DISCUSS TRAINING AND MEMBERSHIP ISSUES. MANY PUBLIC ACTIVITIES RELATING TO PSYCHOANALYSIS ARE PRESENTED BY THE APSAA'S AFFILIATED SOCIETIES AND BY INSTITUTES, WHICH HAVE THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF TRAINING FOR PSYCHOANALYSTS.
