DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION MISSION: THE MISSION OF SI BEHAVIORAL NETWORK IS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE MENTALLY ILL OF STATEN ISLAND THROUGH INTENSIVE AND SUPPORTIVE CASE MANAGEMENT, AS WELL AS AFFORDABLE HOUSING.

STATEN ISLAND BEHAVIORAL NETWORK RESIDENTIAL: HAS DEVELOPED MORE BEDS IN STATEN ISLAND UNDER SUPPORTING HOUSING FOR ADULTS WITH SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS PROGRAM . ALL BEDS MUST BE TARGETED TO SERVE INDIVIDULS WITH SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS.MUST BE TARGETED TO SERVE INDIVIDUALS WITH SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS WHO ARE CURRENTLY RESIDENTS OF OMH PSYCHIATRIC CENTERS OR OMH OPERATED RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS AND HAVE RESIDED THERE FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR OR LONGER. THE RESIDENTS HAVE TO CONTRIBUTE 30% OF THEIR INCOME FOR RENT 18,967. SIBN WORKS WITH COMMUNITY BASED PROVIDERS, COMMITTED TO CREATING A MORE AND REASONABLE UNTILITES. THE RENT SUPPORT PROVIDED IN THIS PROGRAM ENSURES THAT SSI AND SSD RECIPIENTS RECEIVE DECENT HOUSING AND THE SUPPORT SERVICES PROVIDED TO THEM.
SIBN WORKS WITH COMMUNITY BASED PROVIDERS, COMMITTED TO CREATING A MORE COHESIVE AND INTERGRATED CARE SYSTEM FOR INDIVIDUALS DIAGNOSED WITH SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS. THE MAJOR GOALS HAVE FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING A SERVICE DELIVERY SYSTEM THAT: UTILIZES CARE COORDINATORS TO MINIMZE THE FRAGMENTATION OF SERVICES AND ENSURES ACCESS TO CLINICALLY INDICATED LEVELS OF CARE, FOCUSES ON THE NEEDS OF PRIORITY POPULTAIONS, PROMOTES THE EXPECTATION THAT EACH INDIVIDUAL CAN EITHER RECOVER FROM OR BETTER MANAGE THEIR PSYCHIATRIC DISABILITY THROUGH EMPOWERMENT AND PEER SUPPORT, ENSURES RECIPIENT CHOICE, REDUCES RELIANCE ON INPATIENT HOSPITALIZATION, IDENTIFIES AND ADDRESSES INDIVIDUAL SERVICE NEEDS AND INCREASES PROVIDER SYSTEM ACCOUNTABILITY. THIS PROGRAM ALSO INCLUDES WRAP AROUND FUNDS, WHICH PROVIDES INDIGENT CLIENTS WITH EMERGENCY ITEMS, I.E. THE PAYING OF CERTAIN UTILITY BILLS, ETC, AS WELL AS SUPPORT SERVICES TO THE CLIENT TO KEEP THEM OUT OF THE HOSPITAL.
