THE MISSION OF THE HEALTH AND SOCIAL POLICY INSTITUTE IS TO PROMOTE AND CONDUCT INNOVATIVE AND EFFECTIVE PUBLIC HEALTH PROJECTS AND TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT PROGRAMMATIC AND SYSTEM-WIDE SOLUTIONS TO PUBLIC HEALTH AND PUBLIC SAFETY CHALLENGES.

ON BEHALF OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH, IN ACCORDANCE WITH HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE SECTIONS 104325-104330, THE HEALTH AND SOCIAL POLICY INSTITUTE PROVIDED CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY TECHNICIAN TRAINING TO BUILD CAPACITY OF TECHNICIANS AND INSTRUCTORS SUCH AS HOSPITAL STAFF, LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL, FIRE-FIGHTING PERSONNEL, AND OTHER RELATED LOCAL GOVERNMENT STAFF, TO MEET NATIONAL CERTIFICATION STANDARDS IN ORDER TO PROVIDE CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY EDUCATION AND SERVICES TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.


COMMUNITIES ADDRESSING NICOTINE (CAN) IS FUNDED BY THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH, TOBACCO CONTROL PROGRAM TO ACCOMPLISH THREE MAJOR OBJECTIVES:A. ACHIEVE ADOPTION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF TOBACCO RETAIL LICENSING POLICIES IN THE COUNTY OF HUMBOLDT CALIFORNIA AND/OR WITHIN MUNICIPALITIES THEREIN SUCH AS THE CITY OF FORTUNA.B. ACHIEVE ADOPTION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF INDOOR NO-SMOKING POLICY IN MULTI-UNIT HOUSING FACILITIES WITHIN LAKE COUNTY CALIFORNIA AND/OR WITHIN MUNICIPALITIES THEREIN SUCH AS THE CITIES OF LAKEPORT AND/OR CLEARLAKE.C. ACHIEVE THE ADOPTION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A VOLUNTARY POLICY BY TRIBAL OWNERS/OPERATORS OF GAMING FACILITIES AND/OR OTHER WORKSITES TO ELIMINATE INDOOR SMOKING/VAPING WITHIN THEIR FACILITIES.
