PROVIDES SERVICES TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS WHICH INCLUDE SHELTER, TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND OTHER INTENSIVE SUPPORTIVE SERVICES.

RESIDENTIAL SHELTER PROGRAM - A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER IN AN UNDISCLOSED LOCATION PROVIDES HOUSING FOR 19 WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN NEED OF IMMEDIATE PLACEMENT IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR 90 DAYS. THE SHELTER IS STAFFED AROUND THE CLOCK FOR ACCESS AT ALL TIMES, 7 DAYS A WEEK AND MONITORED THROUGH A SECURITY SYSTEM. SERVICES INCLUDE LEGAL ADVOCACY, CASE MANAGEMENT, TRANSPORTATION, ADULT AND CHILDREN'S INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING, SUPPORT GROUPS, PARENTING, ANGER MANAGEMENT, CHILDCARE, INFORMATION AND REFERRALS. RESIDENTIAL TRANSITIONAL PROGRAM - UNIQUE TO BRIGHTER TOMORROWS, INC. IS THE TRANSITIONAL PROGRAM WHICH IS A LONG TERM INDEPENDENT LIVING HOUSING PROGRAM SPECIFIC TO WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN WHO HAVE COME THROUGH THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER. THE HOUSES (2 IN TOTAL) ARE IN UNDISCLOSED LOCATIONS ALL SECURED BY MONITORED SECURITY SYSTEMS IN ORDER TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ITS OCCUPANTS WORKING TOWARD INDEPENDENT LIVING. TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROVIDES ONGOING CASE MANAGEMENT AND COUNSELING SERVICES FOR THE WOMEN WHILE THEY WORK TOWARDS OBTAINING A GED IF NECESSARY, HIGHER EDUCATION, VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND PROCURING PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT AND HOUSING.


OTHER PROGRAMS - SERVICES FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE THAT DO NOT FALL INTO THE CATEGORIES OF THE THREE ABOVE NAMED PROGRAMS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ADVOCACY SERVICES, COUNSELING SERVICES AND THE WOMEN'S RE-ENTRY PROGRAM. BRIGHTER TOMORROWS, INC., IN COLLABORATION WITH THE SUFFOLK COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT HAS CREATED A UNIQUE RE-ENTRY PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM FACILITATES ON SITE EDUCATION AND INTERVENTION TO THE FEMALE POPULACE. IT ALSO PROVIDES THERAPEUTIC RE-ENTRY RESIDENTIAL AND NON-RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT OPTIONS UPON RELEASE.


VICTIMES OF CRIME ACT, WHICH IS COMPRISED OF THE FOLLOWING: NON-RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS - BRIGHTER TOMORROWS, INC. PROVIDES WOMEN IN THE COMMUNITY WHO ARE OR MAY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSELING, LEGAL ADVOCACY, CHILDREN'S WITNESS TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM, PARENTING PROGRAM, INFORMATION AND REFERRALS. CHILD CARE AND TRANSPORTATION ARE OFFERED ON A LIMITED BASIS AS WELL. IN ADDITION, BRIGHTER TOMORROWS, INC. HAS A 24-HOUR HOTLINE. BRIGHTER TOMORRWS, INC. HAS A SATELLITE OFFICE IN BAY SHORE WHICH OFFERS VICTIMS THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET WITH ADVOCATES IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT AWAY FROM THE ABUSER WHILE FILING ORDERS OF PROTECTIONS OR WAITING TO APPEAR IN COURT. LEGAL REPRESENTATION AND ADVOCACY - BRIGHTER TOMORROWS, INC. PROVIDES VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE WITH AN ADVOCATE WHO ACCOMPANIES VICTIMS TO COURT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PROCESS OF OBTAINING AN ORDER OF PROTECTION, CHILD CUSTODY, AND/OR CHILD SUPPORT. LEGAL REPRESENTATION IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, AS WELL AS SERVING RESPONDENT.


HUD RAPID REHOUSING, WHICH IS COMPRISED OF THE FOLLOWING: RENTAL ASSISTANCE - BRIGHTER TOMORROWS, INC. PROVIDES RENTAL ASSISTANCE THROUGH THE COORDINATED ENTRY PROGRAM FUNDED BY U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, AS WELL AS DIRECTLY THROUGH THE NYS OFFICE OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES SUPPORT THROUGHOUT THE TWO YEARS OF RENTAL ASSISTANCE. FINANCIAL ADVOCACY - BRIGHTER TOMORROWS, INC. ASSISTS SURVIVORS WITH BUDGETING, CREDIT REPAIR, AND JOB SEARCH. WORKSHOPS, USING THE MOVING AHEAD CURRICULUM CREATED BY THE ALLSTATE FOUNDATION, ARE PRESENTED TO SURVIVORS BOTH IN-PERSON AND VIA ZOOM. PARTICIPANTS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A MATCH SAVINGS PROGRAM.
