THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF HARTFORD, INC. IS AN ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN COMMITTED TO PROMOTING VOLUNTARISM, DEVELOPING THE POTENTIAL OF WOMEN, AND IMPROVING COMMUNITIES THROUGH THE EFFECTIVE ACTION AND LEADERSHIP OF TRAINED VOLUNTEERS. ITS PURPOSE IS EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL.

THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF HARTFORD (JLH) PARTNERED WITH BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF HARTFORD (BGCH) FOR THE SMART GIRLS INITIATIVE. THE SMART GIRLS PROGRAM WAS DEVELOPED TO OFFER AGE-SPECIFIC EXPERIENCES THAT ENHANCE GIRLS' PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH. IT IS A SMALL-GROUP PROGRAM THAT UTILIZES A COMBINATION OF INFORMATIONAL AND EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING ACTIVITIES TO HELP FEMALE BGCH MEMBERS DEVELOP THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NECESSARY TO PRACTICE HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CHOICES. THE PROGRAM OFFERS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR AREA YOUNG WOMEN TO LEARN FROM AND NETWORK WITH JLH MEMBERS. THE SMART GIRLS PROGRAM HELPS GIRLS BUILD THAT FOUNDATION BY EQUIPPING THEM WITH CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS IN THE AREAS OF PHYSICAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS, MENTAL HEALTH AND SELF-ESTEEM, AND RELATIONSHIPS. ENCOMPASSING THE PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL AND SOCIAL CHANGES A GIRL WHO WILL GO THROUGH BETWEEN THE AGES OF 8 AND 18, THIS HOLISTIC APPROACH SUPPORTS HER COMPLETE EXPERIENCE.


ONE FACET OF THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF HARTFORD'S MISSION IS THE DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING OF FEMALE LEADERS. WE PROVIDE LEADERSHIP TRAINING AND LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES. EACH YEAR WE SEND A MEMBER TO LEADERSHIP QUEST AND HOST SEVERAL WORKSHOPS. THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF HARTFORD'S MISSION IS TO PROMOTE COMMUNITY SERVICE AND VOLUNTEER EVENTS. WE SERVE MEALS AT LOAVES & FISHES EACH MONTH AND SUPPORT SEVERAL EVENTS VIA OUR DONE-IN-A-DAY VOLUNTEER PROGRAM. FOR 2021-2022 FISCAL YEAR, WE HOSTED OR SUPPORTED NEIGHBORHOOD CLEANUPS, COLLECTIONS FOR REFUGEES, CRAFT KITS FOR CHRYSALIS CENTER, EVENT FOR FAMILIES AT MY SISTER'S PLACE, FLEECE BLANKETS FOR PROJECT LINUS, FARM WORK OR AUERFARM, THANKSGIVING BASKETS FOR FAMILIES, ST JOSEPH'S FOOD AND CLOTHING PANTRY, AND MORE.
