Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF BOSTON IS AN ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN COMMITTED TO PROMOTING VOLUNTARISM, DEVELOPING THE POTENTIAL OF WOMEN, AND IMPROVING COMMUNITIES THROUGH THE EFFECTIVE ACTION AND LEADERSHIP OF TRAINED VOLUNTEERS. ITS PURPOSE IS EXCLUSIVELY EDUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF BOSTON DEVELOPS WOMEN LEADERS WHO ADDRESS COMMUNITY NEEDS AND GAPS, BRING AWARENESS TO ISSUES, AND DELIVER EFFECTIVE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS TO FILL UNMET NEEDS. EXAMPLES OF THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE KIDS IN THE KITCHEN, JLB ARTS, COMMUNITY IMPACT, WOMEN4WOMEN, STEM, AND THE JEREMIAH PROGRAM. THE FY2022 YEAR SAW A PICKUP OF IN-PERSON ACTIVITY FOLLOWING THE BRUNT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN FY2021. IN FY 2022, $10,440 WAS SPENT ON OUR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS, WHICH INCLUDED $6,500 IN COMMUNITY GRANTS.
MEMBERSHIP HAS DECLINED SOMEWHAT, AS A RESULT OF SOME DISSATISFACTION RELATED TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC PRIOR TO FY2022. MANY OF OUR MEMBERS VALUE IN-PERSON EXPERIENCES THAT WE WERE NOT ABLE TO DELIVER DURING PART OF 2020 AND ALL OF 2021. HOWEVER, IN FY2022 WE WERE ABLE TO OFFER OUR IN-PERSON VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AND EVENTS AGAIN, WHICH WE HOPE WILL CONTRIBUTE TO INCREASED SUCCESS IN RENEWALS AND NEW RECRUITS. DESPITE THE PANDEMIC, WE WERE STILL ABLE TO CONTINUE OUR IMPACT IN THE GREATER BOSTON AREA. WHEN WE ARE ABLE TO VOLUNTEER IN-PERSON, WE VOLUNTEER AROUND GREATER BOSTON AND IN OUR CENTRALLY LOCATED HQ. OUR VISION IS THAT EVERY GIRL HAS THE SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE TO THRIVE AT LIFE. OUR ORGANIZATION BUILDS CAPACITY OF OTHER LOCAL NON-PROFITS. IN FY2022, WE WERE ABLE TO OFFER OUR SIGNATURE IN-PERSON EVENTS TO MEMBERS, INCLUDING OUR ANNUAL APRES SKI EVENT IN THE WINTER, AS WELL AS OUR ANNUAL GALA AND AUCTION EVENT IN THE SPRING. WE ALSO OFFERED A HANDFUL OF VERY LOW EXPENSE SOCIAL EVENTS FOR MEMBERS SUCH AS COOKING CLASSES.
