Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR THE ROCHESTER LAND TRUST HAD ENTERED INTO A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BUZZARDS BAY COALITION TO PRESERVE A 58.5 ACRE PROPERTY KNOWN AS DOGGETT'S BROOK FARM. IT IS LOCATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF ROUTE 105 ENTERING ROCHESTER. WITH ASSISTANCE FROM THE RLT THE BBC ACQUIRED THE PROPERTY IN MAY 2021 WITH THE INTENTION OF SELLING IT TO A FARMER WHO WOULD KEEP THE FARM IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION. LATER IN 2021 THE BBC FOUND A LOCAL FARMER AND PUT THE PROPERTY UNDER AGREEMENT.IN MAY OF 2022 THE PROPERTY WAS SOLD TO A LOCAL FARM FAMILY. THE SALE STIPULATED TWO CONSERVATION RESTRICTIONS ON THE PROPERTY THAT LIMIT DEVELOPMENT, PROTECT THE FARMLAND AND WATER RESOURCES, AND WILL ALLOW FOR A PUBLIC HIKING TRAIL DOWN TO THE BROOK. THE FIRST CR CONCERNS 38 ACRES. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE ACRE FOR A HOUSE LOT, THE REMAINING 37 ACRES ARE RESTRICTED FOR FARMING. THE SECOND CR PROVIDES FOR A 20.5 ACRE BUFFER ZONE TO PREVENT FERTILIZER RUNOFF. BOTH THE RLT AND THE BBC HOLD THESE CR'S.ALSO OF NOTE DURING 2022, THE LAND TRUST WAS GRANTED A CONSERVATION RESTRICTION BY THE BBC ON A FOUR ACRE PROPERTY KNOWN AS HEADWATERS BOG, AN OLD CRANBERRY BOG, LOCATED AT THE END OF BURGESS AVENUE. ADDITIONALLY LAND TRUST VOLUNTEERS IMPROVED TRAIL AND PROPERTY MARKERS AND CONTINUED MONITORING ITS OTHER CONSERVATIONS RESTRICTIONS.
