OPEN TABLES MISSION IS TO END HUNGER IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING HEALTHY FOOD IN WAYS THAT RESPECT THE DIGNITY AND DIVERSITY OF THOSE SERVED. THIS MISSION IS ACHIEVED BY OFFERING A WIDE VARIETY OF HEALTHY AND CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE FOOD CHOICES IN OUR PANTRY AND MEAL PROGRAMS AND ENGAGING A TEAM OF DIVERSE, COMMITTED AND PASSIONATE STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS WE BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE HUNGRY. WE RECOGNIZE THAT ECONOMIC, RACIAL AND GENDER INEQUALITY ARE THE MAIN DRIVERS OF FOOD INSECURITY. WE WELCOME OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED WITH COMPASSION AND RESPECT. MEAL PROGRAM EXPANSION: OPEN TABLE FURTHER EXPANDED OUR PREPARED MEAL PROGRAM. WE PROVIDED MORE THAN 42,000 PREPARED MEALS TO OUR CLIENTS IN FY22. THIS IS AN INCREASE OF 84% OVER FY21. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES MEALS TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO ARE STRUGGLING WITH FOOD INSECURITY BY PROVIDING HEALTHY, PREPARED MEALS THAT CAN BE HEATED UP AT HOME.
AFGHAN REFUGEES: OPEN TABLE SUPPORTED REFUGEES FROM AFGHANISTAN BY PROVIDING CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE FOOD AND WELCOME BOXES TO ASSIST FAMILIES ADJUSTING TO LIFE IN A NEW COUNTRY, FAR AWAY FROM THE FAMILIAR FOODS AND TRADITIONS OF THEIR HOME. THE AFGHAN PROGRAM HAS ENDED AND WE CONTINUE TO WORK WITH THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF NEW ENGLAND TO HELP PROVIDE RECENT IMMIGRANTS WITH CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE FOOD AND HEALTHY PREPARED MEALS.
EXPANSION OF MOBILE PROGRAMS: WE EXPANDED OUR MOBILE PANTRY PROGRAM IN FY22 BY ENTERING INTO NEW PARTNERSHIPS AND BUILDING ON EXISTING ONES. WORKING WITH OUR PARTNERS, INCLUDING A PILOT PROGRAM WITH DOORDASH, TO BRING FOOD TO OUR CLIENTS WHO MAY HAVE LIMITED MOBILITY DUE TO DISABILITIES OR LACK ACCESS TO A MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, HELPS GET FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED. WE SERVED 35% MORE CLIENTS THROUGH OUR MOBILE PROGRAMS COMPARED WITH LAST YEAR.
