THE COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAM UTILIZES A TRAUMA-ORIENTED, STRENGTH-BASED APPROACH TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN THE BOSTON AREA. COMPASS FAMILY SPECIALISTS AND CLINICIANS WORK TO DEVELOP, SUPPORT, AND STRENGTHEN THE SKILLS THAT INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES NEED TO PROVIDE A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHILDREN. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED SERVICES TO 865 FAMILIES DURING THE YEAR.

THE COMPASS SCHOOL IS A THERAPEUTIC DAY-SCHOOL LOCATED IN DORCHESTER, MA THAT SERVES STUDENTS AGED 6-21 WITH VARYING DISABILITIES INCLUDING EMOTIONAL IMPAIRMENT, BEHAVIOR DISORDERS, AND OTHER DISABILITIES THAT REQUIRE SPECIAL EDUCATION IN AN INDIVIDUALIZED ENVIRONMENT. THE COMPASS SCHOOL UTILIZES A THERAPEUTIC APPROACH TO BUILD RESILIENCY AMONG ITS STUDENTS BY PROVIDING THEM WITH DISTINCT PROGRAMS BASED ON AGE, COGNITIVE LEVELS, EMOTIONAL NEEDS, AND ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED SERVICES TO 49 STUDENTS DURING THE YEAR.


COMPASS OFFERS 45-DAY ASSESSMENTS FOR MASSACHUSETTS' PUBLIC AND CHARTER SCHOOL STUDENTS. SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND CHARTER SCHOOLS REFER STUDENTS FOR A 45-DAY EVALUATION PERIOD TO HELP ASSESS THE STUDENT'S CLINICAL, BEHAVIORAL, AND ACADEMIC NEEDS. COMPASS WORKS WITH THE SENDING SCHOOL, GUARDIANS AND ALL COLLATERALS TO HELP DETERMINE THE NEXT PLACEMENT AND STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS.
