FROM COVID TO A NEW NORMAL AS THE IMPACTS OF COVID-19 WANED, NEW MEXICO STATE HISTORIC SITES REOPENED FOR GOOD IN FEBRUARY 2022, AND THE FCHS CONTINUED PROGRESS TOWARDS MORE NORMAL OPERATIONS. THE LARGEST IMPACT OF THE SHUTDOWN WAS FELT IN DECLINING MEMBERSHIP. AFTER THE REOPENING, MEMBER ROLLS BEGAN A SLOW BUT STEADY CLIMB, ENDING 2022 AT 351 MEMBERS. WE ANTICIPATE FURTHER GAINS AS ACTIVITIES RAMP UP IN 2023. 2022 HIGHLIGHTS VOLUNTEERISM: DONATED MORE THAN 2,880 VOLUNTEER HOURS IN 2022, VALUED AT MORE THAN 86,400. FUNDRAISING: RAISED OVER 48,295 (BEFORE EXPENSES) FOR CORONADO (CHS) AND JEMEZ (JHS) HISTORIC SITES; FUNDING CAME PRIMARILY FROM SUN FATHERS GIFT SHOP, MEMBER DUES, AND DONATIONS. GIFT SHOP: NETTED 19,145 IN PROFIT, AN INCREASE OF MORE THAN 20 PERCENT COMPARED TO 2021. MODERNIZED OPERATIONS BY INVESTING IN A SQUARE TERMINAL, ROUTER, HOTSPOT, AND VOIP TELEPHONE SERVICE. FINANCIAL SUPPORT: INVESTED OVER 13,720 TO SUPPORT BOTH HISTORIC SITES, NOTABLY THE DOCENT PROGRAM - 650; LIBRARY - 435; AND LECTURES - 573. FUNDED VIDEO EDITING FOR YOUTUBE CHANNEL - 1,286; ACADEMIC AWARDS - 1,800; 3-D PRINTER FOR JHS - 800; LIGHTS AMONG THE RUINS AT JHS - 1,800; IMAGINING NEW MEXICO, REPRODUCTIONS OF TWENTIETH CENTURY PUEBLO ART FOR PLANNED EXHIBIT 1,100. SITE REOPENING CELEBRATION: MORE THAN 100 FCHS MEMBERS ATTENDED THIS CELEBRATORY DINNER ON APRIL 30. ATTENDEES WERE TREATED TO A TALK BY NATIVE ARTIST DEBORAH JOJOLA (ISLETA AND JEMEZ PUEBLOS), ONE OF WHOSE WORKS IS NOW ON PERMANENT DISPLAY AT CHS/JHS. ONGOING ACTIVITIES DOCENT PROGRAM CONDUCTED HUNDREDS OF GUIDED TOURS, RECRUITED NEW DOCENTS, PURCHASED TRAINING MATERIALS NATIVE GARDENS FUNDED DEMONSTRATION GARDENS TO EDUCATE VISITORS ABOUT TRADITIONAL PUEBLO AGRICULTURE PUBLIC OUTREACH. COMMUNICATED THROUGH PAID ADS, FREE CALENDARS, WEB SITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA, MEMBER NEWSLETTERS, EVENTS SUCH AS THE BERNALILLO INDIAN ARTS FESTIVAL ADVOCACY SUPPORTED THE DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS AT THE NEW MEXICO LEGISLATURE.
