NORTH AMERICA: IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, ONE ACTION CONTINUED TO HOST NUMEROUS KEY MEETINGS BETWEEN ACTIVISTS, ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS, AND MEMBERS OF CONGRESS IN SUPPORT OF ENHANCED INTERNATIONAL FUNDING IN ORDER TO GET THE VACCINES PURCHASED BY AMERICAN TAXPAYERS INTO PEOPLE'S ARMS. ACTIVISTS PARTICIPATED IN 260 VIDEO MEETINGS AND LOGGED OVER 40,000 HIGH-IMPACT ACTIONS TO HELP SECURE THIS NECESSARY FUNDING, ALONG WITH ADVOCACY AROUND GLOBAL EDUCATION AND HEALTH FUNDING IN CONGRESS AND WITH THE ADMINISTRATION. ONE ACTION ADVOCATED AROUND MULTILATERAL BANKS AND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATIONS TO UNLOCK ADDITIONAL CAPITAL TO FIGHT EXTREME POVERTY AND PREVENTABLE DISEASE. ONE ACTION ALSO WORKED ON GLOBAL HEALTH SECURITY LEGISLATION AND PANDEMIC PREPAREDNESS POLICIES.
EUROPE: OUR WORK FOCUSED ON PUSHING GOVERNMENTS TO MAKE BIG COMMITMENTS ON VACCINES, SPECIAL DRAWING RIGHTS (SDR), DEBT RELIEF, AND EDUCATION, AND MAKING THE CASE FOR ASPIRING PARLIAMENTARIANS IN GERMANY AND THE NETHERLANDS TO JOIN US. OUR GOAL AT LAST JUNE'S GENERATION EQUALITY FORUM IN PARIS WAS GIRLS' EDUCATION, WITH AN EYE ON A SUCCESSFUL GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP FOR EDUCATION (GPE) REPLENISHMENT IN JULY. WE PUT ALL OUR EFFORTS INTO ADVOCATING FOR AN AMBITIOUS FRENCH CONTRIBUTION OF 500 MILLION TO GPE. WE ALSO LED THE UK CAMPAIGNING EFFORTS TO SECURE A RETURN TO THE 0.7% ODA/GNI TARGET AFTER THE "TEMPORARY" CUT TO 0.5% WAS ANNOUNCED IN NOVEMBER.
AFRICA: THE AFRICA TEAM UTILIZED FOCUSED ADVOCACY TO GET POLITICAL TRACTION WITHIN AND OUTSIDE THE CONTINENT FOR A COORDINATED APPROACH TO ENDING THE PANDEMIC AND ITS AFTERSHOCKS IN AFRICA THROUGH CREATING COMPELLING PUBLIC MOBILIZATION PRODUCTS INCLUDING THE "STAND TOGETHER SONG". IN ADDITION, WE COLLABORATED WITH TIKTOK AFRICA, THE AFRICAN UNION, AFRICAN TALENT, AND UNICEF TO FIGHT HESITANCY AND COUNTER DISINFORMATION WITH THE #MYTHORVAX CAMPAIGN. THE SENEGAL TEAM LED A SNAPPY ADVOCACY ACTION CALLING ON CHINA TO RECYCLE AT LEAST 25% OF ITS SDRS - EQUIVALENT TO $10 BILLION - TO SUPPORT AFRICA'S ECONOMIC RECOVERY. THROUGH THE #JOBSNOWAFRICA CAMPAIGN, WE ADVOCATED FOR KEY POLICY COMMITMENTS AND REFORMS THAT CREATE 15 MILLION DECENT JOBS ANNUALLY IN AFRICA BY 2025. A DEVELOPMENT FINANCE INSTITUTION (DFI) REPORT THAT EVALUATED THE INVESTMENT LANDSCAPE AND OPPORTUNITIES IN AFRICA WAS LAUNCHED IN OCTOBER. SENEGAL, NIGERIA AND EAST AFRICA TEAM RECRUITED AND TRAINED (ONLINE) 120 CHAMPIONS IN NIGERIA, KENYA, ETHIOPIA, SENEGAL & MALI. THE CHAMPIONS TOOK HIGH-IMPACT ACTIONS TARGETING KEY POLICY MESSAGES. IN NIGERIA, ONE RELAUNCHED THE MAKE NAIJA STRONGER CAMPAIGN TO ENSURE THAT ALL NIGERIANS HAVE ACCESS TO PRIMARY HEALTHCARE. WE JOINED FORCES WITH THE GLOBAL TEAM ON THE CAMPAIGN FOR AN AMBITIOUS GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP FOR EDUCATION (GPE) REPLENISHMENT AND PROTECTING EDUCATION BUDGETS IN AFRICA. ON DECEMBER 9, ONE AND ITS PARTNERS, ACCOUNTABILITY LAB, AND THE AFRICAN UNION PARTNERED ON THE ACCOUNTABILITY MUSIC AWARDS (AMAS) TO HIGHLIGHT CREATIVE WAYS TO FIGHT CORRUPTION.
