RECYCLING: PROVIDED STABLE, SUCCESSFUL, FULL-SERVICE RECYCLING IN N CENTRAL WA. ENHANCED OUR COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS, OUR REPUTATION FOR EXCELLENCE WITH RECYCLING BUYERS, AND STRONG PUBLIC SUPPORT. VOLUMES AND VISITOR COUNTS INCREASED 5% OVER PRIOR YEAR. SERVED 13,000 FULL AND PART-TIME RESIDENTS OF ALL AGES AND 10S OF THOUSANDS OF VISITORS. WE CONTINUED OUR RECYCLING MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM TO FURTHER STABILIZE THIS UTILITY. IN 2022 WE LAUNCHED A PILOT PROGRAM, ECO BAGS, THAT OFFERS SUBSIDIZED RECYCLING TO CLIENTS OF THE LOCAL FOOD BANK.
EDUCATION & OUTREACH: IN-PERSON CONTACT WITH EVERY PERSON ENTERINGRECYCLING CAMPUS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION AND ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT ALLPROGRAMS. IN 2022 WE STARTED A THREE WEEKLONG KIDS SUMMER CAMP, REMAKE CAMP, WITH THE CURRICULUM OF BUILDING RESILIENCE THROUGH REPAIR, REUSE, AND RECYCLING. THIS PROGRAM WAS OFFERED FOR FREE TO LOCAL KIDS THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. THIS PROGRAM SERVED 35 STUDENTS PER DAY. WE CONTINUED WITH OUR ECO LEADER PROGRAM AND AFTER SCHOOL GREEN TEAM PROGRAMS.
WASTE PREVENTION: CONDUCTED A REPAIR CAF ON THE THIRD SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OUR LOCAL FOOD BANK. THIS PROGRAM SERVES APPROXIMATELY 70 COMMUNITY MEMBERS EACH MONTH AND DIVERTS COUNTLESS ITEMS FROM GOING TO THE LANDFILL. IN 2022 WE REORGANIZED OUR TIOLI PROGRAM AND RENAMED IT THE REMAKE CENTER WHERE WE TAKE AS A DONATION IN GOOD REPAIR BUILDING MATERIALS TO DIVERT THEM FROM THE LANDFILL AND ASK CUSTOMERS FOR A SUGGESTED DONATION TO THE PROGRAM TO TAKE THEM FOR USE. THE REORG OF THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL WITH 50% MORE COMMUNITY MEMBERS USING THE PROGRAM OVER PREVIOUS YEAR. WE CONTINUED TO OFFER OUR TOOL LIBRARY PROGRAM TO THE COMMUNITY WITH LIMITED SUCCESS.
