FISH & WILDLIFE HABITAT IMPROVEMENTS - IN 2021, THE COUNCIL CLOSED TWO HABITAT PROJECTS, APPLIED FOR THREE GRANTS TO ADDRESS BOTH TECHNOLOGY PLANNING AND ACTIVE RESTORATION PROJECTS ADDRESSING FISH AND WILDLIFE HABITAT NEEDS, AND CONTINUED IMPLEMENTATION ON TWO ONGOING PROJECTS FISH PASSAGE & SCREENING - IN 2021, THE COUNCIL SECURED AND BEGAN PLANNING FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A FISH SCREENING PROJECT CALLED FIN SAFE. OUTREACH WAS INITIATED IN LATE 2021 AND SEVERAL LOCAL NEWSPAPER ADVERTISEMENTS WERE COMPLETED TO BEGIN INFORMING THE TARGETED IRRIGATION COMMUNITY MEMBERS THAT ARE ELIGIBLE FOR SUPPORT FROM THIS PROJECT. THE PROJECT ADDRESSES FISH SCREENING NEEDS FOR APPROXIMATELY 36 LANDOWNER SITES THAT PUMP DIRECTLY FROM THE LOWER CROOKED RIVER AND ITS MAJOR TRIBUTATIES. MONITORED TWO FISH PASSAGE PROJECTS THAT WERE COMPLETED IN 2013 AND 2019. UPLAND WATERSHED HEALTH & FUNCTION - CLOSED ONE RESTORATION PROJECT IN 2021, MONITORED ONE UPLOAD PROJECT COMPLETED IN 2015, AND APPLIED TO TWO NEW UPLOAD RESTORATION PROJECTS WITH OWEB. OUTREACH WITH LANDOWNERS CONTINUED IN 2021 SUPPORTED BY A LANDOWNER ENGAGEMENT GRANT PROVIDED BY OWEB WITH APPROXIMATELY 12 LANDOWNERS REACHED AND ENGAGED TO DISCUSS AND PLAN FOR RESTORATION WORK. COORDINATED WITH TWO SOLAR DEVELOPMENT PROPOSALS TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE.
