FISH & WILDLIFE HABITAT IMPROVEMENTS - IN 2023, THE COUNCIL CLOSED TWO HABITAT PROJECTS, APPLIED FOR SEVEN GRANTS TO ADDRESS ACTIVE RESTORATION PROJECTS ADDRESSING FISH AND WILDLIFE HABITAT NEEDS, BEAVER RE-ESTABLISHMENT, AND UPLAND HEALTH. CONTINUED IMPLEMENTATION ON FOUR ONGOING PROJECTS.


UPLAND WATERSHED HEALTH & FUNCTION - MONITORED UPLAND PROJECTS COMPLETED IN 2018 AND 2019, AND APPLIED FOR FUNDING FOR THREE NEW UPLAND RESTORATION PROJECTS WITH OWEB AND OTHER GRANTING AGENCIES. APPLIED FOR AND WAS AWARDED A $1.4 MILLING GRANT FOR THE US BUREAU OF RECLAMATION - WATER-SMART PROGRAM FOR TWO PROJECT SITES IN THE LOWER CROOKED RIVER. OUTREACH WITH LANDOWNERS CONTINUED IN 2023 WITH APPROXIMATELY SEVEN LANDOWNERS REACHED AND ENGAGED TO DISCUSS AND PLAN FOR RESTORATION WORK.


FISH PASSAGE & SCREENING - PLANNING FOR TWO NEW FISH SCREENS WAS COMPLETED IN LATE 2023. PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS WERE ONGOING IN 2023, SIMILAR TO 2022. WORK ON A PAST FISH SCREENING PROGJECT TO UPDATE THE OBERMEYER WEIRS WAS INITIATED IN 2023.
