TO PROMOTE HARMONIOUS AND FRIENDLY RELATIONS BETWEEN THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED STATES AND JAPAN BY PROMOTING EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES AND BY AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS TO STUDENTS ENROLLED AT UNIVERSITIES IN THE STATE OF HAWAII, WHO ARE APPLYING FOR GRADUATE STUDY AT INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING IN JAPAN OR TO STUDENTS AT UNIVERSITIES IN JAPAN APPLYING FOR GRADUATE STUDY AT A UNIVERSITY IN HAWAII.

THE CROWN PRINCE AKIHITO SCHOLARSHIP - THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS STUDENTS WITH SCHOLARSHIPS. THE SCHOLARSHIPS TO AMERICAN STUDENTS COVER ONE OR TWO YEARS OF STUDY IN JAPAN, WHICH INCLUDES A SCHOLARSHIP OF UP TO $30,000 PLUS A TUITION AND COST OF LIVING ALLOWANCE OF $15,000 ANNUALLY. THE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR JAPANESE STUDENTS ARE FOR ONE OR TWO YEARS OF STUDY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AND PROVIDE A SCHOLARSHIP OF UP TO $25,000 AND $1,500 IN TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENTS ANNUALLY.
