MANOA VALLEY THEATRE (MVT) PRESENTED CABARET 2022, THE GAME'S AFOOT, THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, TICK TICK BOOM!, THE PLAY THAT GOESWRONG, THE CHINESE LADY AND LISA MATSUMOTO'S ONCE UPON ONE NODDAH TIME. THE LAST PRODUCTION WAS PRESENTED IN COLLABORATION WITH KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL PERFORMING ARTS CENTER. FOUR OF THE SEVEN PRODUCTIONS HAD EXTENDED RUNS DUE TO HIGH DEMAND FOR TICKETS.WE EXCEEDED THE TOTAL ESTIMATED ATTENDANCE OF 16,000, REACHING 18,211 DUPLICATE INDIVIDUALS AND 12,512 UNDUPLICATED INDIVIDUALS. WE ALSO EXCEEDED OUR ORIGINAL OBJECTIVE FOR THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS REACHED THROUGH THE KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL PERFORMING ARTS CENTER PROGRAM. WE HAD PROJECTED THAT 160 KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WOULD BENEFIT FROM OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THEIR SCHOOL. A TOTAL OF 866 UNDUPLICATED STUDENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS UNDER AGE 25 CAME TO THE PERFORMANCE OF THE MUSICAL COMEDY ONCE UPON ONE NODDAH TIME, AND ENABLED 45 KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN A SUMMER INTERNSHIP AND/OR BE ON A CREW FOR THE MVT PRODUCTION.MVT OFFERED SIX MUSIC AND COMEDY SERIES PERFORMANCES TO 914 UNDUPLICATED ATTENDEES BLACK VOICES MATTER: FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, HAROLD PINTER'S THE DUMB WAITER, SOMETIMES LOVE, BARRYMORE, SYMPHONY IN MANILA, AND THE LIVING.CURRENTLY IN ITS THIRD YEAR, THE MUSIC & COMEDY/DARK NIGHT SERIES KICKED OFF IN FEBRUARY 2023 WITH "FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION '24 LIVE TOUR," FEATURING INTERNATIONAL SPOKEN WORD ARTISTS SHAWN WILLIAM AND PRENTICE POWELL AND HOSTED BY Z OF BALTIMORE. 2023 IS A HISTORIC YEAR FOR THIS ART FORM SINCE THE GRAMMYS HAVE ADDED A NEW SPOKEN WORD CATEGORY FOR POETS. LATER IN FEBRUARY 2023, BENNY RIETVELD, MUSICAL DIRECTOR AND BASSIST FOR SANTANA, BROUGHT AN ALL-STAR LINEUP OF HAWAII AND INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS TO MANOA VALLEY THEATRE. IN MARCH, THE LEGENDARY ACTOR RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN INTRODUCED AND NARRATED SOMETIMES LOVE, A NEW MUSICAL BOOK ABOUT FRIENDSHIP AND LIFE'S CHALLENGES, WITH MUSIC AND LYRICS BY MARTIN RABBETT.
