1) CONDUCTED AND ORGANIZED WELLNESS PROGRAMS, HEALTH SCREENINGS, AND HEALTH EDUCATION FOR A TOTAL OF OVER 3,000 HOURS OF CLASSES, SERVING 3,091 INDIVIDUALS VIRTUALLY. PROGRAM TOPICS INCLUDED SENIOR SAFETY TIPS, MINDFULNESS FOR SENIORS, ALZHEIMER'S EDUCATION, INFORMATION RELATED TO SENIOR SCAMS, TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT, LIFESTYLE CHANGES DURING COVID-19, COMMUNITY CRAFT ACTIVITIES, AND OTHER SUBJECTS RELATED TO AGING.2) AWARDED $247,490 IN GRANTS TO 32 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN SUPPORT OF COMBATTING SOCIAL ISOLATION AMONG JAPANESE AMERICAN AND JAPANESE OLDER ADULTS, AND CAREGIVERS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AMIDST THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. SUPPORTED PROGRAMS INCLUDING OUTREACH TO ISOLATED OLDER ADULTS, CAPACITY BUILDING, AND TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT TO SAFELY MAINTAIN SOCIAL CONNECTIONS FOR OLDER ADULTS AND CAREGIVERS IN THEIR RESIDENCES. CONDUCTED THREE EDUCATIONAL WEBINARS FOR ORGANIZATION LEADERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR KEIRO GRANTS.3) SUPPORTED RESIDENTS AND FRONTLINE STAFF OF THE FOUR SENIOR CARE FACILITIES PREVIOUSLY OWNED BY KEIRO WITH CULTURALLY-SENSITIVE JAPANESE MEALS ON OVER 115 OCCASIONS, SERVING BETWEEN 100-300 INDIVIDUALS PER OCCASION. PROVIDED OVER 125 WELLNESS CLASSES AND ACTIVITY PROGRAMS LED BY BILINGUAL INSTUCTORS, INCLUDING EXERCISE, ARTS & CRAFTS AND MENTAL FITNESS. ALSO PROVIDED TRADITIONAL JAPANESE SNACKS AND BEAUTICIAN SERVICES FOR RESIDENTS. 4) PROVIDED AN INTERNSHIP FOR A GRADUATE STUDENT PURSUING A MASTER'S IN PUBLIC HEALTH. THE INTERN CONDUCTED RESEARCH ON THE IMPACT OF THE ARTS AND ART THERAPY ON THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF OLDER ADULTS, PROVIDED COMMUNITY EDUCATION ON TOPICS SUCH AS SUN SAFETY, HYDRATION, AND IMPROVING QUALITY OF LIFE THROUGH ART. 5) PROVIDED CASE MANAGEMENT/REFERRAL SERVICES TO 16 COMMUNITY MEMBERS, INCLUDING PLACEMENT IN LONG-TERM CARE FACILITIES, LOCATING IN-HOME CARE AGENCIES AND ACCESSING SERVICES.6) IYASHI CARE - PARTNERED WITH PROVIDENCE HEALTH & SERVICES TO PROVIDE CULTURALLY SENSITIVE PALLIATIVE CARE TO OLDER ADULTS WITH SERIOUS ILLNESSES AND/OR DEBILITATING SYMPTOMS, AND SUPPORT FOR THEIR FAMILIES. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES A TEAM COMPOSED OF BILINGUAL-SPEAKING DOCTOR, NURSE AND SOCIAL WORKER THAT VISITS PATIENTS AT THEIR HOMES OR CARE FACILITY TO PROVIDE CLINICAL CARE AND SOCIAL SERVICES. ALSO PROVIDED SIX PRESENTATIONS FOR COMMUNITY EDUCATION OF THE PROGRAM AND HOW TO ACCESS RESOURCES.7) PARTNERED WITH LITTLE TOKYO SERVICE CENTER TO PROVIDE A CLIENT ASSISTANCE FUND FOR OLDER ADULTS WITH LIMITED RESOURCES, DEVELOPED CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP FACILITATOR TRAINING, AND PROVIDED 1,920 HOURS OF MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING TO OLDER ADULTS WITH LIMITED RESOURCES. THE CLIENT ASSISTANCE FUND PROVIDED A SAFETY NET FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH EMERGENCY SHORT TERM NEEDS FOR HOUSING, FOOD AND MEDICINES. CAREGIVER SUPPORT TRAINING PROMOTED COMMUNITY-BASED CARE AND AGING IN PLACE AT HOME. THE MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING PROVIDED EXPANDED SERVICES TO JAPANESE LOW-INCOME OLDER ADULTS SUFFERING WITH CONDITIONS SUCH AS CLINICAL DEPRESSSION, SCHIZOPHRENIA AND BIPOLAR DISORDER. 8) PARTNERED WITH LITTLE TOKYO SERVICE CENTER AND LITTLE TOKYO COMMUNITY COUNCIL FOR THE SECOND YEAR OF THE LITTLE TOKYO EATS PROGRAM, PROVIDING OVER 10,000 HOT MEALS TO OLDER ADULTS AT THEIR HOMES IN LITTLE TOKYO. THE PROGRAM ALLOWED VULNERABLE OLDER ADULTS TO REMAIN AT HOME RATHER THAN VENTURE OUT AND RISK EXPOSURE TO COVID-19. THE PROGRAM ALSO SUPPORTED LOCAL RESTAURANTS THAT WERE STRUGGLING WITH ECONOMIC HARDSHIPS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. 9) VIRTUALLY HOSTED THE FOURTH ANNUAL KEIRO NO HI FESTIVAL, AN ESTABLISHED HOLIDAY TO CELEBRATE OLDER ADULTS, WHICH WAS ATTENDED BY OVER 200 HOUSEHOLDS AND HAD OVER 1,600 VIDEO VIEWS. THIS FESTIVAL PROVIDED VIRTUAL EXPERIENCES INCLUDING PERFORMANCES BY LOCAL OLDER ADULT GROUPS, DEMONSTRATIONS BY LOCAL MASTER ARTISTS, AND FEATURED COMMUNITY MEMBERS THROUGH AN ART SHOWCASE. THE PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDED ACTIVITIES AND HIGHLIGHTED MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.10) HOSTED A VIRTUAL CAREGIVER CONFERENCE TO PROVIDE CAREGIVING RESOURCES TO OVER 250 FAMILY CAREGIVERS. RESOURCES INCLUDED A KEYNOTE DISCUSSION ON CAREGIVING DURING THE PANDEMIC AND BREAKOUT SESSIONS INCLUDING A PANEL OF CAREGIVERS DISCUSSING THEIR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES, AND HOW THAT AFFECTS THEIR VIEW OF THEIR FUTURE CARE. THE PROGRAM ALSO INCLUDED CULINARY TIPS FOR CAREGIVERS FOCUSING ON DIETARY AND NUTRITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS.11) HOSTED THE FIRST ANNUAL ALZHEIMER'S CONFERENCE IN PARTNERTSHIP WITH ALZHEIMER'S LOS ANGELES. OFFERED THE PROGRAM BILINGUALLY WITH IN-LANGUAGE INTERPRETATION FOR A JAPANESE-SPEAKING AUDIENCE. SERVED 294 INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILY CAREGIVERS, AND PRESENTED ON TOPICS INCLUDING AN OVERVIEW OF ALZHEIMER'S AND RELATED DISORDERS, AN UPDATE ON ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE RESEARCH, AND HOPEFUL SIGNS FOR THE FUTURE, INCLUDING AVAILABLE RESOURCES.
