Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
1) CONDUCTED AND ORGANIZED WELLNESS PROGRAMS AND HEALTH EDUCATION FOR A TOTAL OF OVER 2,000 HOURS OF CLASSES, SERVING 2,038 INDIVIDUALS VIRTUALLY AND IN PERSON. PROGRAM TOPICS INCLUDED SENIOR SAFETY TIPS, HEALTHY COOKING/EATING, ALZHEIMER'S EDUCATION, INFORMATION RELATED TO SENIOR SCAMS, TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT, OVERALL WELLNESS, COMMUNITY CRAFT ACTIVITIES, AND OTHER SUBJECTS RELATED TO HEALTHY AGING AND QUALITY OF LIFE.2) AWARDED $250,192 IN GRANTS TO 27 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN SUPPORT OF COMBATTING SOCIAL ISOLATION AMONG JAPANESE AMERICAN AND JAPANESE OLDER ADULTS, AND CAREGIVERS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AMIDST THE CONTINUING COVID-19 PANDEMIC. SUPPORTED PROGRAMS INCLUDING OUTREACH TO ISOLATED OLDER ADULTS, MEAL DELIVERY, CAPACITY BUILDING, WELLNESS PROGRAMS, AND CARE PROVISION TO SUPPORT SOCIAL CONNECTIONS FOR OLDER ADULTS AND CAREGIVERS IN THEIR RESIDENCES. CONDUCTED THREE EDUCATIONAL WEBINARS FOR ORGANIZATION LEADERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR KEIRO GRANTS.3) SUPPORTED RESIDENTS AND FRONTLINE STAFF OF THE FOUR SENIOR CARE FACILITIES PREVIOUSLY OWNED BY KEIRO WITH CULTURALLY-SENSITIVE JAPANESE MEALS ON OVER 115 OCCASIONS, SERVING BETWEEN 100-300 INDIVIDUALS PER OCCASION. PROVIDED OVER 125 WELLNESS CLASSES AND ACTIVITY PROGRAMS LED BY BILINGUAL INSTRUCTORS, INCLUDING EXERCISE, ARTS & CRAFTS AND MENTAL FITNESS. ALSO PROVIDED TRADITIONAL JAPANESE SNACKS AND BEAUTICIAN SERVICES FOR RESIDENTS. 4) PROVIDED AN INTERNSHIP FOR AN UNDERGRADUATE COLLEGE STUDENT PURSUING A DEGREE IN GLOBAL HEALTH. THE INTERN SUPPORTED PROGRAM DELIVERY TO BENEFIT OLDER ADULTS, WORKSHOPS EDUCATING COMMUNITY YOUTH, AND PROVIDED COMMUNITY EDUCATION ON TOPICS SUCH AS SUN SAFETY, AGING EMPATHY AND CANCER IN THE JAPANESE AMERICAN COMMUNITY. 5) PROVIDED CASE MANAGEMENT/REFERRAL SERVICES TO 47 COMMUNITY MEMBERS, INCLUDING PLACEMENT IN LONG-TERM CARE FACILITIES, LOCATING IN-HOME CARE AGENCIES AND ACCESSING SERVICES.6) IYASHI CARE - PARTNERED WITH PROVIDENCE HEALTH & SERVICES TO PROVIDE CULTURALLY SENSITIVE PALLIATIVE CARE TO OLDER ADULTS WITH SERIOUS ILLNESSES AND/OR DEBILITATING SYMPTOMS, AND SUPPORT FOR THEIR FAMILIES. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES A TEAM COMPOSED OF BILINGUAL-SPEAKING DOCTOR, NURSE, AND SOCIAL WORKER THAT VISITS PATIENTS AT THEIR HOMES OR CARE FACILITY TO PROVIDE CLINICAL CARE AND SOCIAL SERVICES. ALSO PROVIDED SIX PRESENTATIONS FOR COMMUNITY EDUCATION ON THE PROGRAM AND HOW TO ACCESS RESOURCES.7) PARTNERED WITH LITTLE TOKYO SERVICE CENTER TO PROVIDE A CLIENT ASSISTANCE FUND FOR OLDER ADULTS WITH LIMITED RESOURCES, CONTINUED TO DEVELOP CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP FACILITATOR TRAINING, AND PROVIDED 2,043.5 HOURS OF MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING TO OLDER ADULTS WITH LIMITED RESOURCES. THE CLIENT ASSISTANCE FUND PROVIDED A SAFETY NET FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH EMERGENCY SHORT TERM NEEDS FOR HOUSING, FOOD AND MEDICINES. CAREGIVER SUPPORT TRAINING PROMOTED COMMUNITY-BASED CARE AND AGING IN PLACE AT HOME. THE MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING PROVIDED EXPANDED SERVICES TO JAPANESE LOW-INCOME OLDER ADULTS SUFFERING WITH MAJOR LIFE STRESSORS AND CONDITIONS SUCH AS CLINICAL DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, AND OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER.8) PARTNERED WITH JAPANESE AMERICAN CULTURAL & COMMUNITY CENTER TO PROVIDE PROGRAMS FOR THE COMMUNITY'S OLDER ADULTS AND CAREGIVERS. WELCOMED OVER 100 COMMUNITY OLDER ADULTS FOR CULTURAL EXPERIENCES, EDUCATION, AND NOURISHMENT THROUGH MEALS AS A MEANS TO IMPROVE THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE WHILE CONNECTING WITH OTHERS. ALSO CONDUCTED EDUCATIONAL CULINARY CLASSES TO PROVIDE CAREGIVERS SUPPORT AND MEAL PREPARATION INFORMATION FOR AGING CARE RECIPIENTS.9) HOSTED THE FIFTH ANNUAL KEIRO NO HI FESTIVAL IN PERSON FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2019 AT FOUR DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. KEIRO NO HI IS AN ESTABLISHED HOLIDAY IN JAPAN TO CELEBRATE OLDER ADULTS. THE FESTIVAL WAS ATTENDED BY OVER 300 OLDER ADULTS AND CAREGIVERS. THE EVENT INCLUDED PERFORMANCES BY LOCAL OLDER ADULT GROUPS, DEMONSTRATIONS BY LOCAL MASTER ARTISTS, AND FEATURED COMMUNITY MEMBERS THROUGH AN ART SHOWCASE. THE PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDED ACTIVITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR OLDER ADULTS TO BE CELEBRATED AND HONORED.10) HOSTED A VIRTUAL CAREGIVER CONFERENCE SERIES TO PROVIDE CAREGIVING RESOURCES TO OVER 365 FAMILY CAREGIVERS. PRESENTATIONS INCLUDED UNDERSTANDING LONG-TERM CARE, NAVIGATING CHALLENGING CONVERSATIONS WITH LOVED ONES, AND STRESS MANAGEMENT FOR CAREGIVERS. RESOURCES WERE SHARED WITH PRESENTATIONS REPRESENTING A RANGE OF SERVICES FROM HOME CARE SERVICES, RESIDENTIAL CARE FACILITIES FOR THE ELDERLY, PALLIATIVE CARE, AND OTHER PLANNING SERVICES.11) HOSTED THE SECOND ANNUAL ALZHEIMER'S CONFERENCE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ALZHEIMER'S LOS ANGELES. OFFERED THE PROGRAM BILINGUALLY WITH IN-LANGUAGE INTERPRETATION FOR A JAPANESE-SPEAKING AUDIENCE. SERVED 190 INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILY CAREGIVERS, AND PRESENTED ON TOPICS INCLUDING DEMENTIA FRIENDLY COMMUNITIES AND MANAGING BEHAVIORAL CHALLENGES IN PEOPLE WITH DEMENTIA. 12) DIRECTLY WORKED WITH 130 VOLUNTEERS TO PROVIDE HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IN VARIOUS FORUMS AND CONFERENCE EVENTS.
